LaMotta was the #1 contender for 4 and a half to 5 years straight without a title shot due to the mob.

I think to find Robinson's weakness, you need to find the tape of the fight when LaMotta beat robinson. He knocked him through the ropes and almost had him out of there.

Two of the other LaMotta SRR fights were very close as well those fight tapes could be the key to finding the answer to this mystery. Its probably just pressure fighters who keepcoming and he cant box and move away from. Cant create space.

When LaMotta got stopped in the 1951 title bout, he had to come down from 194 to make 160. He had passed out in the steam room three times leading up to the fight, he was so weak there was no way he could fight at his full potential much less beat the greatest p4p fighter to ever lace them up. That is poor discipline on Jake's part but still, fighting jake in 1951 is different than fighting jake in the 40's where he was the #! contender and taking on any and everyone from 160 to 175 and having no problem disposing of anyone from Bob satterfield to tony janiro.

Im aware that Lamotta was dead at the weight in his last fight with Robinson,,if you look at the fight you can see Ray continually backing away ,making Jake use his legs to find him.I was replying to Dempseys post that Lamotta ,and Fullmer dropped Ray,All the Robinson , Lamotta fights were close even the last one was competitive, thats why the y had a series,Im a fan of Lamotta,s and wasnt disparaging him.

1st Robinson-LaMotta wasn't close by any means. Even by giving LaMotta any close rounds, he wins 3 rounds at best (reports saw him win only 2 rounds, the others going to Robinson easily).

Where did you read that? In his biography he said he was #! for 4 years straight.

Robinson's strength occasionally became his weakness. His aggressiveness tended to backfire on him at times.

His weakness is also his strength: he had a massive ego, which helped him overcome the odds...but it also worked against him like when he underestimated fighters like Randy Turpin and Carmen Basilio (in the first fights).

Whose ratings? Ring? The Ring ratings werent official and their annual ratings dont tell the story of the year month to month.

As for Robinsons weakness, well, pretty nitpicky. Of all those fighters you say showed his supposed weakness only one them beat him once in six fights and at the time was naturally bigger. The others didnt win a single fight against him.

If thats an example of him being weak I think most of us would take that track record.

    Infighting as is prominently mentioned.

I'd wager he could be out jabbed.

He got hit a little too much for anybodys taste.

Above is why I think Bernard Hopkins beats him.

Robinson was a top class in fighter with his short sharp hooks and uppercuts

His weakness if he had 1 was defence and his workrate wasn't that high, high enough but not that high
