    Povetkin. Going away.

Ruddock and that anemic punch rate of his won't get a stoppage. Alex takes too good of a shot to go out from a single shot. And it isn't a case where Razor lands a combo or sets the guy up or counters him. It's a wide wide hook from way on the outside. When he bothers to throw it 3 or 4 times a round, he'll miss.

The rest of the time, it's the same old Ruddock. Not throwing and not capitalizing on opportunites that are right there for him. He'll lose round after round and eventually gets stopped when Povetkin comes right over the top of one of those lazy and stupid jabs Razor throws, with a right hand he never see's.

Same ending as the Lewis fight and same as other heavies like Bowe and Holyfield would have hit him with if he signed a contract to fight the elite fighters back then. Ruddock simply has to have stale reflexes in the opposing corner.

For ****s sake man, he stood toe to toe with Tyson for 12 rounds no way in hell would Alex stop him if Mike didn't.

    Povetkin struggled with a Cruiserweight!!!!!

Peak Ruddock took out still very good versions of Bonecrusher and Dokes. Two men who had iron chins at their best.. Add wins over Weaver, Page and at the time an unbeaten Jackson.

But even without all that the two losses to a damn good Tyson trumps anything Alex has done. We saw what happened when he "Alex" stepped up, Wlad DESTROYED HIM!!!!

Alex would end up face first on the canvas like Smith and Dokes.

    Tyson did stop Ruddock
    The rematch only lasted
    Because Tyson was not focused
    Talking about butt *** rubbish
Dropped the Razor but didn't finish
    Claiming he wanted to punish
Him further, make the fight last longer

Jaco stopped Ruddock, Morrison stopped him, Lewis stopped him, Tyson stopped him and beat him up bad. Ruddock is overrated.
Povetkin would win a decision. Solid fight.

Ruddock suffered from a rare respiratory ilness for the Jaco fight and was unable to continue. He also weighed only 200 pounds for that fight.

Tyson stopped him controversially the first time around and was unable to stop him in the rematch. The rematch was pretty competitive.

Ruddock was coming off a massive lay-off against Morrison, and again, unjust stoppage.

Ditto on Lewis, though Povetkin is no Lewis.

    Ruddock was very overrated.
I think Povetkin is overrated now.
    Could be a 50-50 fight.

Povektin UD. HE has been impressive later. Top level stamina combinations, power, and speed. Take Wlad out and I think Povetkin would be good enough to be a solid champion.

Both men's best wins were against diminished opposition and both men's most notable fights were losing efforts to an ATG. Ruddock went the distance with a post-Rooney version of Tyson who was on the rebound from the Douglas loss while Povetkin got hammered over 12 rounds by a 37 year old Wlad. Ruddock was nearly KO"d by a horribly deconditioned and decling James Smith while Alexander fought life and death with Marco Huck. Razor destroyed an overweight Dokes with one punch, and Povetkin beat similar opponents in Bozwell and Chagaev. I don't see much difference in their resumes with the exception of Povetkin being a bit more consistent and having less defeats. Ruddock peaked at around age 26 while Alexander reached his pinnacle at about 33.. Don't know if that matters or not.. While looks are deceiving, Povetkin appears less sculpted than Ruddock who was quite a specimen in his prime. Alex is a better boxer but I think Ruddock's limitations are over stated.

Not sure who wins this one. I think it would be a bloody affair. I don't see Povetkin strategically taking his time to box Ruddock. I think it turns into a war and whoever outlasts the other wins.

Povetkin. Fundamentals and stamina win it for him.

2 bs I was at the fight Tyson was sharp Ruddock was just tough as ****, I was around back then kid I didn't watch the fight on YouTube I was in the Arena
He and Tyson went to war, Tyson ruined him.. Razor once claimed Tyson broke something inside of him..

Razor had respiratory issues he's levels above Jaco even then.
I knew a guy who worked in Ruddock's corner for the Morrison fight he said Ruddock barely trained yet he damn near won anyway, ,he was also coming off huge layoff
Lewis smoked him yes, but Tyson had already ruined him..
Lewis would also destroy Povetkin for the record
Richard Steele stopped fight one not Tyson.
Tyson had 12 rounds in fight 2 and Ruddock came in 10 pounds heavier and Mike couldn't do it. So would Povetkin go toe to toe with the Tyson in 91 and hear the final bell?? If you think so keep dreaming

Solid post, I see Ruddock landing the smash flush and getting him out of there at some point, he had legit power!!

Watch the Jaco fight. He takes it to Razor all fight long. The respiratory illness was a convenient excuse. I do believe he suffered from it, but I think he was in a much tougher fight than expected and folded.
Who said Povetkin would last 12 with Tyson not me. Styles make fights. Povetkin is just a better boxer than Ruddock. He's 36 and still has never been stopped has defeated better and more consistent opposition. Just to proclaim Ruddock because you may like him more is an inaccurate assessment. Ruddock was beaten and ko'd by more people and his wins are not as good. He was fairly one dimensional, with his "smash" punch. Tough sure, big guy yes but Povetkin outboxes him to a UD.

Fair enough, not an inconceivable out come by any stretch, I'm quite high on Razor having watched his entire career and I think he'd break thru when at his peak and get the KO.. Alex does seem to currently be better then ever so we are not actually done writing his story.

Of course Povetkin is polished. You don't go 125-7 in the amateurs and revenge your defeats if you aren't "polished".

Ruddock draws with Phil Brown (who) and loses to Jaco (regardless if it is a health issue) and you think he can beat a guy who's only loss is to Wlad?

Povetkin has much better wins and a much deeper resume.

Ruddock mostly feasted on people's leftovers.
