Povetkin ? Who has he beaten? Huck? On points oh dear.not going to end well for pov would be smashed to the canvas in four.

 

i cannot beliebve the people picking povetkin to beat ruddock it blows my mind

 

ruddock almost retired because of asthma bro and after the jaco loss he took a yr off / in the uk version of tyson/ruddock 1 you can hear lennox speaking about ruddocks past asthma problems ....:deal

 

What's so hard to believe? Go on YouTube and watch the highlight vids for the Takam and Wach fights, and then Watch the Perez fight in full. The Wlad fight is a poor reference point.

 

Maybe polished for today's lowly heavyweight division. Yuri Vaulin was "polished" with a 227-30 amateur record yet turned pro in the loaded 90's era. Povetkin's professional career is far more proven than Vaulin but as I stated above it's been from a dreadful era.

Using Ruddock's early set backs as a head to head barometer shows me that you're a ****kin idiot. Povetkin isn't that special. His best wins aren't better than Ruddock's. Does Povetkin's power rank up there with Tyson, Lewis and Morrison? Because he'll need that more than being a "polished" heavyweight to beat Ruddock.

 

Ruddock is another 80s/90s guy who's extremely overrated..... His best wins are against a shot Dokes, and a faded Bonecrusher... Sure he had power, but it never saw him through against top heavyweights. Not saying he couldn't win here, but saying Povetkin has absolute no chance is ridiculous.

 

Povetkin is impressive. If not for Wlad he would be viewed as a worthy champion. He's the best combination puncher since Holyfield, durable, game, and a good puncher. His biggest problem is he's not a very big man ( Just 6'2" 75" reach ) and is fighting in a time with larger men.

I think Povetkin would take Ruddock out in the later rounds. Ruddock had power, but he's overrated for the reasons you mentioned

 

I never claimed he didn't have asthma. All ' saying is watch the Jaco fight it's on YouTube. Very competitive. Ruddock was pre-prime so it's not really a big blemish I'm just tired of everyone always saying asthma attack cost him the fight. To me looks like Jaco cost him the fight.

Ruddock is, and always was, incredibly overrated. He beat fat washed-up has-beens.
Some of the Tyson fans really persist in overrating him to this day but I don't know why because clearly Tyson in '91 wasn't was he had been 3 years earlier and he still beat Ruddock up badly.

 

True. Ruddock left a lot to be desired. Like many have stated before he didn't use his full capabilities and fell in love with his power. But, he was knocking guys head's off! And he's definitely more dangerous than someone like Old Foreman. Ruddock was feared for a reason.

I lean towards Ruddock here. Because Povetkin's only loss was to Wlad means he beats Ruddock? Both guys feasted on has beens, Ruddock just looks more impressive to me on film. He was a feared fighter and ducked by a lot of the top names in the 90's.

So tell me this...what always troubled Ruddock? The answer is power. ELITE power. Povetkin definitely has a chance here but at their respective bests Ruddock looks the more dangerous fighter to me.

 

Yeah, i agree. But Povetkin is not feather fist and quite a clever boxer. Of the two, Povetkin is more likely to have a good gameplan and exploit weaknesses.
But, same as you, I recognize that Ruddock, even based on his ability to land devastating and fast single shots, is hugely more dangerous than the routine heavyweights Povetkin has beat.
I'll say 50-50 fight or thereabouts.
