Yes, it's probably a compounding problem. Taking more fights impairs judgment. Impairs judgment leads to taking more fights.
I'm all for boxing "seniors tours," - that is older fighters squaring off in sanctioned fights against one another, assuming they can pass physicals - but there are limits. Generally, I wouldn't think post-50 fighters should be sanctioned to fight, and clearly not 60+. Sorry, Luis Ortiz!
Doesn't really seem to be a smart idea to let someone who is brain damaged make the decision to fight some more. If anything someone should have him looking at ways to regain brain functionality as opposed to ways that will make him lose more of what little is left.
My favorite Ruddock fight This content is protected Pretty cool with Duran there! Didn’t know he and Tommy were tight!
This is unthinkable and any commission that allows it should be jailed!!! My son was fighting in an amateur show last year and Razor was there coaching some kids… He is still well built for an older guy but I had my heart in my hand every time he went up the ring steps to the corner… I honestly thought he was going to take a header… His balance is just awful!!! He was a very nice man who took photos and signed autographs, with a huge grin, for anyone who approached him.
Gotta be smart about it. For someone just outside of pro-fighting years/ability maybe they could do headgear or body sparring. For the much older guys some kind of skills competition, that could be interesting. Especially speed bag and some of the stuff that the old pros are very good at but most of the younger guys don't do.
Shows how weak the HW division is. Has there ever been a time a 60 year old retired fighter thought he could come and compete?
Err having a professional boxing fight against younger guys when you’re pushing 60 isnt #healthyliving or #fitnessjourney
