Razor Ruddock set for a return at 51, has not fought since 01- should this be allowed

Sure, if he passes his physical why not?

There are worse fighters that are allowed to box, some of them wouldn't even hold their own in a local bar brawl.
But they shouldn't put him in with anyone remotely good until they're sure he's ready for it. He had a good chin back in the day, wich can be dangerous if that keeps him in a fight in wich he takes a lot of punishment.

 

If he is in fighting shape then let him fight but don't put him in with tough competition unless he proves he has something left.

He's never going to be champion but he might be able to beat some guys and make some money. With his power he might still be a decent fighter if he can get in shape but I doubt he can get in the kind of shape to ever move up in the rankings.

 

Yep but should monitored closely and level of opposition to start with should be not that good which obviously it won't be

 

Just watched that youtube vid. Apparently he forgot how to throw a punch and put his guard up or something? It seems like a amateurish imitation of his fighting style....

I vote no, you sometimes have to protect a boxer from himself. He is still articulate, doesn't seem to be slurring or anything which is a good sign but at that age you're just too slow, reflexes aren't any where near high enough to compete at that high of a level. He doesn't have the speed or skillset to compete like a Bernard Hopkins. Hopkins can compete because he's amazingly skilled and can outhink his opponents but Razor DOES NOT. He was a hard puncher that bludgeoned his opponents but that just won't happen.

Props on him for looking in decent shape though.

To his credit he doesn't look, or sound that bad and looks pretty young for his age. Still don't think this is a good idea though....

 

Can't wait to see him fight Wilder for the WBC belt.

I knew it was going to be him, Holyfield or Bowe. Since he is the one announcing a comeback, I think we have a winner.

 

Indeed, that is the funny part. He actually has a chance.

 

Sorry to hear this, but the good news for him is that it makes him even more likely to get the Wilder shot.
