This fight happened after Ruddock's two fights with Tyson, and before his fight with Lewis. Actually watched this a few nights ago, funny coincidence. Greg Page took some vicious shots here, and if I was Floyd Patterson in Donovan's corner that must have been one of the most frustrating moments ever. Dude would NOT just stick to a jab, not even for 10 seconds, it was all slugging, all the time.
I remember the fight was ruined in Britain, when the SKY presenter (I am thinking Paul Dempsey), tells people a long the lines of: "If you do not know the result, it lasts a lot longer and is a lot more competive than you might think it is going to be."
Same old Ruddock. Page just had a pretty good chin and it took a bit of punishment to get him out of there.
I have it on tape.... I saw it live on cable as it occured..... Page was in-shape, but age 33 and faded.... Page was game for 6 rds and then Ruddock lowered the boom around the 8th stanza.... Page never fully rebounded after blowing his WBA title to Tony "Blubbs" Tubbs in 1985.... by 1987, Page was a win some, lose some fighter.... Ruddock never rebounded from being waxed by Lewis in 1992.... MR.BILL
He wasnt. Look how easy the slow Page hit him in spots. Page was slow and dreadful, but a savvy veteran. Ruddock was just crap in this fight.
When was Ruddock ever hard to hit in the 90s? Washed up Bonecrusher found him and rocked him with slower shots multiple times, even dropped him. I concur with same Old Ruddock.
YES AGree!!! :deal Later in 1992, Lenny Lewis did in less than 4 minutes, what Tinkerbell Tyson could not do in 19 Rounds - Ruin Razor Ruddock. :!: Foreman Hoooooooooooooooooooooook!:smoke
Ruddock was crude as hell. He could really hit, and that made him exciting - hence, all the hype. It's strange, because in his first big fight (v. Weaver, 1986) he boxed a bit too cautious. He then developed a reckless power-punching style. The Tyson fights exposed the gaping holes in Ruddock's defense, and his lack of skill. They also confirmed that Tyson had become a sloppy, one-dimensional fighter.
