Smith was an impressive physical specimen at that weight. He was just old for a fighter.

Smith was hugely frustrating to watch during the 90s because you knew he still had that big power, but the poor guy simply couldn't deliver it. He had the old fighter's problem of seeing the openings but not being able to react quickly enough, while he was hardly a twinkle toes even at his best.

This was still a fun fight, due to Ruddock's offensive-minded but defensively lacking approach and Smith being just a few years off his best. They both got in some good dings, I think Ruddock was laughing at the knockdown just as he did against Tyson.

When Bonecrusher was fighting Moorer in '93, though, it was pretty excrutiating stuff.

i watched this fight last month as i am going through some old tapes and transfering them to dvd yeah it is a good fight . the thing though that stood out for me was at times smith's corner seemed less than good which is hard to say as i really like frazier

Smith's best year was definately '86. Afteer the Tyson fight, he was fighting for the paydays. Otherwise, he would have trained better and not fought at 250 and been exhausted after 4 rounds.

After "Lazy Bones" Smith dropped a decision to Adilson Rodrigues in 1987, I sensed Smith's glory days were done...

I have Bones Smith's fights with Weaver of 1990 and Moorer of 1993... The rematch with Weaver was painfully dull, but I like his fight with Moorer...

Bones Smith looked gross in 1999 at 275 pounds with saggy tits while getting TKO'd by a 250 pound Holmes....

I found and popped in "Holmes-Smith 2" from '99........ Holmes is fat at 250, but Smith is gross at 275...... CHRIST!

    Never saw that.....

A real horrid fight was the '94 comeback of Razor Ruddock winning a 10 rounder against a dude 300 + pounds...... His last name was 'Wade' I believe... That fight sucked.....

I found and popped my '93 tape of "Moorer-Smith" that was aired by ABC TV... Smith hung tuff for 10 rds in losing the dec. to Moorer.....

    MR.BILL:thumbsup

At least Bones Smith in 1993 looks fit to fight Moorer... That 275 Bones Smith dragged into the ring against Lawrence Holmes later in 1999 in Virginia was horribly gross looking......

I pray that comeback Donovan only fights bums who don't have power, because no matter how hard he trains, he will definitely be beyond-shot.
Even Tyson Fury would demolish him! :verysad

Razor-Bonecrusher was a great fight, Ruddock was at his absolute Peak & demonstrated an impressive jab & skillful footwork.

Ruddock is looking lean and less muscular at age 46 here in 2011, but I agree that he'll be slow and easy to hit by young tigers looking to make a name for themselves... Ruddock likes to train, but he'll only sign to fight "Average Joe's" at this juncture... He knows he'll never be the champ of the world...
    :bbb

I found my '92 fight between "Ruddock & Page." Page at age 33 was in-shape, but still deeply faded at the time...

Page enjoyed a sickening beating against Ruddock. A brutal finish.

The real shame with Page was, he waited until he was in his early 30s to train hard and get leaned out, but it was too late as his skills had slipped since he was age 24 and 25... Page never looked toned all that well in his career, but he was fit when he was down to 230 pounds and not that gross 240+ crapola...
