Not picking on you because this is a pattern I see, but it’s like some people have never even noticed what Dempsey did to big men.

Did Jack Dempsey ever fight a black fighter ? and didn't he openly admit he was afraid of Sam Langford and refused to fight him ? and didn't he avoid Harry Wills also ? i haven't got alot of knowledge on fighters from that era. But i cannot envision Dempsey fighting a huge punching 230+ pounds Razor Ruddock.

Dempsey's style of fighting the way he leans forward, he's open to Ruddock's uppercuts and "The Smash". I can't see Dempsey taking the amount of flush punches that Tyson did against Ruddock. And if Ruddock was able to catch Tyson then he'll catch Dempsey.

Ruddock is better than Willard aswell just because Willard was big doesn't mean he was very good which he wasn't if we're being honest.

Yes he certainly wanted no part of Willard, Firpo, Morris or Fulton, did he?

The Tyson of 1991 would still be the favourite against 90 percent of any Heavyweight in history.

Wills was a lot more dangerous than those guys, pal.

Ruddock is better than Willard I agree, however Dempsey beat Willard with a lot of room to spare. He also thundered through Firpo, whom Ruddock was no better than.

In recorded bouts, Yes. And sparred with black boxers for years. His main sparring partners were Big Bill Take and the Jamaica Kid.

Most 90s Heavyweights you've ever heard of are probably better than Willard.

Do you see Firpo being a top contender from 1989-92, as Ruddock was? If yes, what footage of him did you see that leads you to believe that? I wouldn't mind taking a look.

Ruddock was one dimensional for sure, but that one weapon probably absolutely wrecks Firpo, Willard, and most others from that era who would have been willing to fight him, which Team Dempsey almost certainly would not have been willing.

Yes Dempsey did fight black fighters just not as champ. He said he was afraid of Sam Langford and thought he would lose in an old interview on youtube however who knows if he was being totally honest or simply paying respects to a great fighter.

Actually Willard was around 245 lbs, and I wager he was tougher than Ruddock. Dempsey in his prime wouldnt take very many flush punches at all he had quite a defense. Ruddock was a hard puncher for sure but if Tommy Morrison could get up and ko him then Jack Dempsey surely would.

Also a quote by Langford on Dempsey: "Jack Dempsey was the best Heavyweight I ever saw. (Rated him over Johnson). He hit harder than Jeffries and was as quick as Corbett. If I had to bet on a Wills Vs Dempsey fight, my money would have been on the champ."

Ruddock was very much on the downside when he fought Morrison. He'd fought only once in about 3 years going into that fight. He took a massive left hook from a big puncher in Morrison, and was up very quickly. He clearly had his wits about him when it was stopped. Keep in mind, Morrison was a far bigger man than Dempsey, by about 40 pounds or so, and known to be juicing around that time.

Morrison getting the referee stoppage there doesn't translate into Dempsey getting the same result against a prime Ruddock.

But with thinner gloves in Dempseys era and his ability to destroy bigger men I dont think Ruddock lasts very long.
