That's exactly how I see it. If there was one thing that Quarry was consistent at it was beating guys like Ruddock. As well as an exact echo of my opinion on Ruddock. I guess we are C list with no credibility.
How many guys other than Tucker and Smith ( two exceptionally large heavyweights and titlists at that ) took Tyson 12 rounds pre-prison term? How many actually landed back while taking some of his best shots? Really? Quarry was stopped on 6 occasions in his prime and coming within 7 rounds or less. He had a high tendency to cut and bleed as well as get floored.. Ruddock was only stopped twice during his prime by two of the biggest hitters in history, and one of those came via controversial stoppage ( Tyson-Ruddock 1). Its fine to say that Quarry "handled" big punchers well, but beating shavers before he had a chance to get a shot off, or stopping one other guy who had a heavily padded record doesn't compel me to make the blanket statement that he'd handle "anyone" of that description, especially when looking at one who's style had nothing in common with the men Quarry beat. Quarry was not exactly Muhammad Ali in the movement department.. An aging Chuvalo managed to put him on the deck, and a declining Frazier took him apart pretty easily in their rematch. Floyd Patterson was past it as well and decked Quarry in both of their fights... Its not out of the question that a man who had a pretty good reach advantage and an awkward punch could have landed on the button and caused some problems. Well PP is not nor has ever been very reasonable.. Should Quarry take Ruddock the distance and win on points, pp will no doubt call it a "robbery", even if Jerry beats the snot out of him.. Well you were the one who initially suggested that Foster fought better people, with this statement: I will also ad that in 1990, Michael Dokes was still rated as one of the top 5 best heavyweights in the world and a man who was in line for a title shot.. He was a bit past it, but at 31 years old, keeping active, and giving Holyfield the fight of his life, he was still a formidable opponent to be reckoned with.... Mike Weaver was past it, granted but he had just sparked Carl Williams and after losing to Ruddick would knockout the dangerous Johnny Duplooy... Razor had like 12 fights when he faced weaver... Who did Foster face with 12 fights? his best wins were Williams and Folley who were DONE.... No debate there. A win/ko ratio can be deceiving when looking at a padded record such as foster's. Alex Stewart began his career with an identical looking record of 24-0-0-24..... Ask how many people around here felt he was "dangerous".
Rudduck was type of guy Quarry specialized in beating, a Mac Foster, Ron Lyle type guy. Quarry in tough fight maybe, but he wins clean decision.

I am going to come down with the Quarry crowd here. I go with their argument that Ruddock was the type of fighter that Quarry had the beating of.
I agree..he's worse..especially inferior to Lyle. Quarry would have fought a tough, smart fight along the lines of his bout with Lyle, I believe. A onesided decision or maybe a late stoppage by tko.
I see you posted the Dokes and Bonecrusher fights as examples of Ruddock's hand speed and jab. Wow, I would say my credibility is safe. Here's Mac Foster. As you can see he's comparable in size(6'2" w/81 inch wing span), and I would say has a quicker snap to his punches. Also, Foster has a good left hook, unlike Ruddock he works a strong snapping jab down the pipe at all times, but like Ruddock he's also predictable and in love with his power. ive emailed ron lipton about the stoppage on this fight/ i disagree but im not in there/ lipton said it was a g stoppage
fuk ruddock looks fattttt against morrison.....compare his body here....then compare his body in his fight with dokes/ or tyson.....this is ruddock way past his due date
I've seen Tyson/Ruddock many times. I watched them live, actually. I have to say I was very disappointed in Tyson's performances at the time and still am, the Tyson of the Holmes fight might have finished Ruddock early. If by brutalize Ruddock's body, you mean losing his cool and punching his balls a few times in the rematch, I would agree.
