I don't know about the result but your right about baers crudeness He made jeffries look like Willie pep
I doubt it. Mass is not equal to more strength baer was naturally bigger and strong like a bull. He remember me to foreman in the raw strength
Baers right was one of Boxings most dangerous punches. A right hand is the PERFECT punch to catch Rudduck with as he generally held his left low loading up on that hook/uppercut of his. Baer fighting straight up would not be the open target for that hook but in turn Rudduck would be much more wide open for the Baer right hand. Baer would only need to be wary of that hook/uppercut .....that's it. Rudduck never showed the defense to keep away from a great right hand. Baer also had the much better durability and chin. No question. Baer connects first and like Lewis gets Rudduck out of there.
Except Baer's right hand was more telegraphed than many of the ones Ruddock was hit with. And Max was left wide open for plenty of shots of his own.
No punch was more telegraphed than the Rudduck hook. Rudduck did not have the defense to get out of the way of a right hand. Baer had the chin to perhaps take that hook but Rudduck did not have the chin to take the Baer right hand. Baer connects full force and it's lights out.
Ruddock could cook a thanksgiving dinner in the time it takes to see that right hand coming. pumpkin pie and all.
Not always, Baer would put that open glove in your face and cover eyes. He looped the over hand at weird angles and was hard to judge. Sometimes it could be a sneaky counter. I think this would look like the Comisky fight. Comisky was also 6'3 and had the same open low hand guard Ruddock used.
And he would still walk into it. Get up and get finished on the ropes with Baer laughing in his face.
Max Baer vs Tony Galento.. Had it not been for the black and white film I was sure that it was Jerry Halstead vs Tim Tomashak. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RaM5u6Z3aE
I recommended Baer vs Comisky. Comisky at 6'3" 200 plus with 60+ career knock outs and a decent run as a contender is a better gauge.
For me this could go either way. Both packed big power and both neglected the finer points of the game. Both could get tagged by big shots. Baer may have a better chin, yet Ruddock could absorb a hell of a punch himself. Watching him ship vicious punishment from Tyson over 12 rounds in the 2nd fight wasn't fun if you were a fan. I favour Ruddock slightly since Baer was more crude (yet less predictable) but it's a tough fight to pick a winner in.
Shame you have no interest in a serious Baer performance against a big puncher he respected. Play it safe and stick to videos of Galento bull rushing his crouch. Thought you were a whole truth kind of guy,
