I think Lennox Lewis and Tommy Morrison showed that Ruddock could be stratched if he gets hit by nearly perfect punch.

Tyson never landed that kind of punches as Razor was always ready for his left hook and for his right hand.

I wouldn't hold up the Morrison performance as any kind of proof. Rather like holding up the Nova results to make an argument against Baer.

In hindsight, it really does appear that the 19 rounds with Tyson took all the starch out of Ruddock. He has no significant victories afterward and his performances and fitness looked shaky at best.

Both fighters have the great equalizer. Ruddock is the smoother operator, the quicker... but Baer can be just as vicious. It's the kind of fight you really don't want to wager on. I will Ruddock but with not a lot of confidence.

You're right about Morrison. I just wanted to say Ruddock's chin seemed not as good in Lewis and Morrison fights as in Tyson fights. So I believe if (and that's a big IF) Baer lands cleanly it might be over

An old overweight James smith landed a right hand and ruddock did fly for the ring literally. A prime smith kills ruddock.kills him.simply he was toó heavy and old to keep it up during the time enough to finish the job

Rudduck was truely a nothing. Baer slaughters him. If Baer could hit Schmeling, a fringe ATG, with his right hand he is going to hit Rudduck.

I take it you would pick Gipsy Daniels over Ruddock too then? :think

Daniels last time I checked was never hwt champion of the world. Daniels power was never rated along with the hardest punchers in hwt boxing history.

Could you start a Tyson Fury v Gipsy Daniels thread for the sake of all-time Gypsy ratings?

Of course he wasn't. I only mentioned his name to expose the weakness of your argument that Baer would stop Ruddock because he stopped (the 189-lb) Schmeling (in 10 rounds).

One is 6'8ish lineal heavyweight champion, but perhaps only because he fights against the weak, unskilled, gutless heavies of the contemporary scene. The other is a bit smaller but more than makes up for it in moxy and old-schoolness; he once stopped the legendary Max Schmeling inside of a round. :think
