    Ruddock 65/35.

At his best, Ruddock was also a specimen who could bang at the top level... but he could box a little. Actually he had a nice arsenal and really good jab before he fell in love with the smash.

Rudduck was as one dimensional as they come. All he had that that left hook uppercut. No defense, pawing jab, no right hand. Baer at his best lands his right over Rudducks low left for the ko win.

Baer. Easy. Baer was much better with both hands and actually has the better defense of the two. How many guys can you say that about?

Ruddock is so wide open for counters when he bothers to throw a punch. Which he doesn't do nearly enough of. When he jabs he drops his left to his waist. & eventually lifts it back up. His right hand might be worse in the time it takes him to get his hands back to their proper position. Max will come over the top and catch him clean with a punch Razor never even see's.

Written by a true neophyte. Anyone familiar with Ruddock's earlier work against Dokes, Smith, Broad... etc. knows that Ruddock had a snappy jab when he chose, a right lead he used often, a right uppercut, a devastating right cross behind a lead hook or jab... and the smash when it was more lead uppercut than winging hook.

Again, Ruddock KO 65% of the time.

I think Lennox Lewis's early round destruction of Ruddock has led to a gross misconception that Donoven had no chin. You don't go 12 rounds with a young Tyson and rise off the canvas against Bonecrusher to win if you have no whiskers. Lewis simply hit Razor from excellent angles and perfect precision. That and the fact that Lewis possessed incredible power in his early days before adapting more boxing skill later under Steward. Just because Lewis sparked him in two doesn't mean anyone could. Max Baer was certainly a very hard hitter and fairly durable himself. But looking at old film of him he was also extremely crude. Honestly, I've seen 17 year old amateurs over the past 20 years who had a better stance, jab, and mastery of the basics than Baer had when he was a world champion. His punches were often telegraphed and thrown from wild wide open angles, which a lot of modern fighters could have easily ducked, blocked or avoided altogether.. An excellent counter puncher like say Jerry Quarry might have had a field day with a fighter of that style. Sure he beat an outstanding fighter in Max Schmeling, but honestly, how much of a heavyweight battering could Schmeling truly be expected to take? He was a guy who turned pro as a middle weight and topped out at about 195 lbs ( and when past prime.) I make no solid convictions on this fight but I wouldn't be so quick to pick a man just because he was lineal champion....60 years earlier....

A barnstorming fight this. While it last s which will be about 4rounds. Baer comes out swinging and actually drops ruddock twice in first round. Next couple of rounds both men are rocked then in fourth ruddock connects with the smash and max is out

No one swinging willdy with their hands down is defeating Ruddock who had a top 5 hook of all time rivaling Tommy morrison and Tyson ( probably harder than Tysons) . he would clear Baers head off his shoulders ,the only barnstorm you would see is the medical team rushing in with a stretcher, this would probably resemble the dokes fight who looked on helplessy as he was hit and then hit again to life threatening levels. Give Ruddock an easy target he will hit the target,Baer was not exactly the defense minded fighter, he dared fighters to go toe to toe brawling with him.

Ruddock was nothing special. He is built up by Tyson fans to make it seem like Tyson beat somebody good in his prime. That being said he fought all heavyweights and I mean true heavyweights. Even though Baer was a 6'2 to 6'3 210 plus pound guy most of the fighters he faced were modern sized cruiserweights.

Baer was extremely crude like most fighters of the era. Ruddock wasn't really that skilled either but far more skilled than Baer. Ruddock would stopped Baer quicker than Louis did.
