Razor Ruddock vs Ray Mercer

Ruddock comes out fast Slamming his smash in to mercer. Razor wants to get Ray out of there before it gets in to the later rounds. I can see first few rounds mercer unable to get much of his own in due to the bomb s coming his way. Then round about the fifth razor s gassing, and now mercer is getting the solid right hand s in. Midway through the sixth as razor attempt s to catch Ray with a left mercer send s him to the canvas. Donavon attempts to rise but can't make it. Ray mercer wins ko 6

 

Mercer got dropped by Holyfield so clearly if Ruddock landed flush it is goodnight Ray Mercer.

 

I think ruddock would be hurting Ray for most of the fight. Would be catching Ray plenty but think it would play out similar to mercer - morrison. Ray had a good set of whiskers so I think he would be able to catch ruddock half way. But u needed a good chin against razor

 

People claim Morrison had a bad chin and he took Razors best, got knocked down and got back up and knocked out Ruddock.

 

I really like this match up. I see this one being a war. I think Ruddock lands some smashes on Mercer that make the bombs he landed on Tyson look soft. Whether Mercer takes them or not would be something to see I personally think he would and they'd go the distance with Ruddock winning a decision. I think Ruddock would clearly be winning but Mercer would be in there the whole time making one hell of a fight of it....

 

Ruddock ! The shot, featherfisted Ferguson could beat the prime Mercer and Ruddock was far better than
Ferguson.

 

Helluva fight if both show up in shape. I like Ruddock here.

 

Tell me about it. People on boxing forums who don't know boxing love to hype up Mercer. Ray had 2 good wins in his career. Morrison who was kicking the crap out of him before he gassed out and against Francesco Daminani who was kicking the crap out of him until he got hit with one punch went down and quit. Mercer fought well against Lewis and lost, he fought well against Holyfield and got knocked down and lost. He got completely out boxed by 200 year old Larry Holmes and as your said lost by Jesse Ferguson a club fighter

 

Yes I agree morrison did get a up from ruddock and that s why I feel mercer would walk through most of his big guns. Morrison was a heck of a puncher and he couldn't really hurt Ray and lennox threw the kitchen sink at him and couldn't put him down, that's why I feel it will be mercer winning this one

 

Mercer could be out boxed and could be a plodder but the guy did have a fairly good chin. I think ruddock would be more confident against Ray than against tyson so he would be leaving himself more open to mercer while he was blasting him. It would be more of a case of ruddock blowing himself out then getting stopped by Ray

 

Both fighter kind of hit and miss, they performed better when they werent expected to win and then lost when you think they would or could have won.

Ruddock that fought Tyson and Mercer that fought Lewis would be a hell of a fight though.

I think Mercer would win this one by flooring Ruddock at least once. Ruddock tend to throw a huge uppercut which left himself open. Ruddock can be careless with his defence at times.

 

Maybe you watched a different fighter Morrison was hurting Mercer and even Mercer said after the fight Tommy was kicking his butt and hurting him especially with body shots. Lewis didn't load up and throw his punches with bad intentions all of the time. Once he got clipped by McCall for the most part he didn't fight with that killer instinct. He did jump all over Golota but most of the time he fought at a measured pace trying not to gass himself out or open himself up to being countered and dropped.

Holyfied dropped Mercer with only one punch I believe. He was hit with a hook, hurt badly and took at knee to avoid the follow up. Unless you believe Holyfield punched harder than Lewis, Lennox could drop him as well. Here is something else, Mercer would cover hit head up pretty good once he got hit. People like Holyfield worked the body and Lewis did not. So Lewis didn't really bring Mercers hands down. I believe Ruddock worked by body better and would bring Mercers hands down so he could land his big head punches.

 

I just don't see a prime mercer been stopped by ruddock. I don't doubt that ruddock would have hurt Ray. Same as when he fought Cooper. Cooper caught Ray with some cracking punch s, and if u recall Cooper dropped evender. OK ropes held him up but evender was hurt. Cooper also dropped moorer several times so bert was no feather fist. Ray stood up to the bangers a lot better than ruddock. I'm not dissing razor, I thought he was a exciting figure but I'm going with Ray
