As boxing fans, we all know plenty of fights that could've easily gone the other way. Which fights stood out the most to you in this regard. My picks would be... Hearns vs Hill Holmes vs Norton Barkley vs Duran
Definitely like your second and third choices. Razor-thin fights if I ever saw any. The first one I have to beg to differ on however.
Well, I didn't actually score it on points. I thought it was fairly close, but there was no doubt in my mind that Hearns had won the fight.
Larry Holmes W15 Carl Williams Thomas Hearns W12 James Kinchen Roberto Duran W12 Iran Barkley Michael Moorer W12 Evander Holyfield Lennox Lewis W10 Ray Mercer Joe Calzaghe W12 Bernard Hopkins Carl Froch W12 Andre Dirrell
Accelino Freitas vs. Joel Casamayor might just be the closest fight I can recall seeing. If not for the bogus knockdown and the also bogus point deduction, it would have been a draw, and probably the most just draw ever. Carmen Basilio vs. SRR has always been the poster child for close fights, notorious because virtually all 15 rounds were toss-ups Shane Mosely vs. Oscar De La Hoya II Ali vs. Norton I, II, III Miguel Cotto vs. Joshua Clottey JMM vs. Manny II and III
Moorer Holyfield 1 stands here as the fight that changed the HW title lineage for few years. Had Holy got the draw (one point difference), it's highly unlikely that Old George wins another lineal HW title and keeps it for another 3 years.
