Bad comp or not, 33-0 is still 33-0.

Sorry Sweet Pea, I typically agree with you on most of what you say, but not here.

Would you consider Sven Ottke a master of the sweet science as well?

Im no rican but even I know Lopez was at the final steps in his career. He never won a big tittle until recently and easily lost it against a young hungry fighter with power. Good win but not great

Hey, Carita is an average boxer. And I am Puerto Rican. That is not excuse. Sonsona won the fight. But nobody in PR was surprise. Check his ****ing record. He lost his first 7 tittle fights. And became a champ at 37. A lot of heart, but still an average fighter, at best.

    Sven kind of was, actually.

That was all he had. And thats pretty much all Calderon has.

It takes WAY more than raw technical skills to be a successful, elite, or great boxer, but some less than greats have had excellent technical abilty.

Or Yuri Foreman for that matter? I think well find out whos elite or overrated when the 3 champs meet. Sosa, Vilora, Calderon.

I honestly think Calderon could have make more money as a Jockey. I don't compare him to Sweet Pea because he lack the power. But I admire what he has done in the ring and in his life.

but who would you pick between a proven veteran 38 years old and a young, unproven 19 year-old teenage fighter? most people knows that carita is not a great champion but they would bet with a proven commodity most of the time, wouldn't you?

I actually prefer Ottke to Calderon. Not that I think very highly of either one. Neither posessed any outstanding skills or proved themselves against top flight opposition, so couldn't really care less what their numerical record is.

Calderon will lose soon if he doesn't retire. However, still has been a great career.

Pfffftt....When Penalosa lost to JML we congratulated JML.

When Sonsona beat Jose Lopez....."Lopez wasnt that good of a fighter anyways"

Sweet Pea lacked true KO power as well. He posessed pretty much every other attribute/skill neccessary to making a great fighter though, whereas Calderon does not even come close. They're not very comparable at all. Calderon is a one trick pony, Whitaker had a myriad of skills.

Everybody ran away from Calderon @105lbs. Was that his fault??? The guys at 108lbs are way bigger than him. What else do you want??
Ok, you win, Pernell was better.
