Thank god we've the 2 main bouts to look forward to, or I'd have turned this off...zzzzz 3-Come on Takahashi, throw caution to the wind and go for it lad!...Nice combination from Takahashi...and then he stands off again...FFS he's just as much to blame for this **** show
4-Takahashi slowly moving out of first gear, bit there's still a feel that he's happy to just fight within himself
5-Basan seems to have gotten bored of being there to lose and starts the round with some wild shots of his own, Takahashi doesn't make him pay but does land a nice right hand some time later, and another...Takahashi going for the kill, he heats an uppercutt but keept shte aggression on, Basan covering up and the referee stops him Could have done that 4 rounds ago...
Yuto Shimizu (14-3-2, 5) v Nobuyuki Shindo (20-5-2, 8) Shindo's fights are either great or shite....fingers crossed for the former after the last bout
1-Shindo bouncing on his toes, not much thrown in the first minute, Shindo did predict a technical bout here and that could be the case, Shimizu misses with a right, Shindo misses with a left, 2 minutes and we see the first shot of note land, a body shot from Shimizu pops Shindo on his ass, he looks a lot more embarrassed than hurt, 10-8 Shimizu
2-Pace is heating up a tiny bit early on here, Shimizu is trying to play the counter puncher role and it's making Shindo look a bit confused -he's usually the much taller guy but here he's not got his usual advantages and with the early KD he needs to chase things a bit, a good clean right from Shimizu up top,
3-Amazed at how slow BOTH men look here, Shimizu has never been quick but Shindo looks hilariously slow himself, Shimizu coming forward a little more, eurgh a mess of a fight, nice hook from Shimizu lands clean, 30-26 Shimizu
4-Hello! Looks like we have a fight breaking out as Shindo holds his feet and lets a combination go, Shimizu returns fire before backing off. Shindo wanting to make this into a fight now, and Shimzu obliges rocking Shindo onto his heels, Shimizu with a combination on the inside, messy wrestling and holding. Shindo tried to do more there but ate the bigger shots.
5-Wild shots from Shindo missing, some wrestling, Shindo pushing the action more again he knows he needs something big, Shimizu bleeding from the nose now (atleast it looked like...maybe not), more messy wrestling, a hard Shimizu right, both miss with bombs, nice right from Shimizu, good Shindo left hand
6-Shindo in the ascendancy, but he needs to step on the intensity trigger as he's never doing enough to take the play away from Shimizu for long, very messy again, Shimizu pulling Shindo in when he misses, Shimizu missing a lot, nice counter jab by Shimizu seconds before the bell There was a very nice exchange early in the round which wobbled Shindo
7-A flurry from Shimizu gets the crowd roaring with Shindo on the ropes, Shimizu with the better work through another messy round, a headclash has Shindo wincing in pain, working on the inside and again Shimizu gets the better of it, Shindo maybe unravelling a little as we head into the final round
8-Shindo on the retreat as Shimizu comes forward, holding pauses the action but Shimizu is determined to make this into a fight and keeps pressing, more holding from Shindo, 1 minute left, Shimizu working on the inside, "bodybodyheadheadout" from Shimizu, Shindo holds again, and again, wide and wild shots from Shimizu, headlock from Shimizu Think Shimizu gets this...at least he should....but god that was...most unenjoyable
Japanese Light Middleweight champion Hironobu Matsunaga (15-1, 9) Vs Koki Koshikawa (9-1, 6) Excited about this one! Koshikawa was tipped big time when he turned pro, lost to Kashinmaru Saito and faded away, this is a big chance for him but Matsunaga is 9-0 since losing to Yuki Beppu in a Rookie of the Year final almost 5 years go! Well behind Matsunaga personally, he's the one who has worked to have success since turning pro, Koshikawa was expected to have it
1-Koshikawa out the blocks fast and he rocks Matsunaga! He's out there to make a mark. Matsunaga holds, more pressure from Koshikawa, and now it's Matsunaga on the front foot, the diminutive champion is trying to turn this around, what a round!
