Cloud is not even close to being as good as some here seem to think, and to be honest he is made to order for Johnson. I wouldnt be shocked if Johnson stopped him.
I guess I have seen a different Cloud then you have. his power is over rated, his boxing skills are on par with Andrade, and he isnt even a decent pressure fighter. I just dont see it, I thought that he looked bad vs Woods who did almost nothing.
I'm not. You're right. Being 41 in and of itself doesn't matter. Johnson is an older 41 than Hopkins is at 45. He's just too slow and his output has dropped too much for his pressure style to still be effective against young elite talents. He's still mentally and physically teak-tough, and still well conditioned, but speed kills. At this stage, even just above average speed kills Glen if it's wielded by someone who's remotely durable and skilled at or near the elite level.
Instead of Cloud, am I the only one that would rather see him score the winner of HOPKINS-JONES, or finally get to win 2 of 3 over Tarver?
Which is pretty much how I feel. Cloud vs Johnson is just going to boil down into a phonebooth slugfest and I favor the guy with the faster, heavier hands.
This Hernandez-Paredes rematch should be four-alarm fire. Round 1 Twinkletoes using evasive tactics straight out, the shorter man controlling the distance and fighting behind a jab. Paredes is hanging back, not taking the bait, reaching in with his own long jab but not going wild. A lot of movement around the ring. Hernandez using a lot of energy staying out of range. Paredes just following, not cutting the ring off. They clinch any time both open fire simultaneously. Paredes keeps trying to fire off short uppercuts when this happens but Hernandez suctioncups his chest to Ed's before they can get off. Paredes tries the same punch from a little further out and the uppercut crashes into Hernandez's ribs as he moves laterally, so it doesn't have full impact. Paredes round despite not using the ring well at all times. His connects were better. 10-9 Paredes
Round 2 More dancing around by Twinkletoes. He's not following up with much hand movement, however, and when he does it's one and done, or one-two, and then a grab. Paredes takes a step back as Hernandez rips a hook with one of his own. Hernandez charges in with a flurry and Paredes, with ample room to get off, plants another rock-hard hook into Hernandez' chin. GOODNIGHT IRENE!
