No doubt and it's a bonus that he isn't shaped like a toad too

I actually had assumed Kalitsky vs. Castillo was the main event (and Skavynskyi vs. Galessi the co-main, with this one third-billed). :nusenuse:

I'd forgotten how much "The Prince", also known affectionately by fans as "Ravshan" is becoming quite a star attraction on these Ekaterinburg shows. The doubtless talented (but sometimes unfocused and negative) Uzbek southpaw has been inconsistent with his form, yet remains popular. The comments section of the YouTube video has been filled with impatient demands of "when is Ravshan on??".

Here is Umurzaqov vs. Rimar Metuda from last February:

Here is his main event rumble last September with Roldan Mariano Aldea, which I thought he should have lost by a point:

The Prince is taking on a fit & lean 21 year old Venezuelan banger now with a 13-2-1 (11) record, never stopped...could get interesting.

    Round 1

Umurzaqov is exchanging fully extended jabs with Correa, fencing at long range, the Uzbek's right versus the Venezuelan's left. Umurzaqov is a bit thrown off by Correa's spastic, jittery, awkward style - pouncing in with underhanded shoveling blows with both hands, or hammering Umurzaqov's gloves into his face like cue-balls and then flipping a fist underneath to drive into his throat. Very unorthodox stuff from Correa, breaking up any rhythm Umurzaqov tries establishing with more conventional boxing working behind the high southpaw jab.

    10-9 Correa, close

    Round 2

Umurzaqov hurts Correa early, and Correa indicates there was a foul but the ref has them fight on. Things settle into a rhythm of both men hitting with the free hand in the clinch, and flipping jabs up off their hips on the outside.

    10-9 Umurzaqov

    19-19

    Round 3

Umurzaqov is repelled every time he tries a sortie by the buckshot right hand delivered from behind Correa's back, and some wildly swung but effectively deterrent left hooks that force Umurzaqov to bend almost in half to duck. Both are throwing FAT body shots, like a pair of lobster fishermen dragging the ocean floor, and often clanging arms together when they are firing simultaneously. Ref having to get very involved. Lots of holding and other fouling, in both directions.

    10-9 Umurzaqov

    29-28 Umurzaqov

    Round 4

Point deducted from Correa, for holding I think. Or maybe hitting on the break. Or behind the head. Idk, there's a lot of dodgy stuff happening. Umurzaqov lands a low blow and Correa is down, almost getting himself tangled in the bottom pair of ropes. Their styles are...not meshing in a very aesthetically pleasing way. Lots of shots thudding off the sides of each other's necks, fists ending up wedged in the opponent's armpit, etc. Clinches happening almost without any premeditation every few punches thrown. Both flurrying hard when the ref separates them, but neither getting anything to stick very neatly.

    10-8 Umurzaqov

    39-36 Umurzaqov

edit: might have officially been ruled a KD, if so:

    10-7 Umurzaqov

    39-35 Umurzaqov

Oh did he count that as officially a knockdown? I was unclear, thought it was a low blow and he didn't give a count to Correa. If so then yes 10-7 on my card too.
