I agree Pecks. One average performance is acceptable, two is a worry but not necessarily panic time. 4 however is a pattern, either he is getting past it or the weight is a huge problem for him. I mean really if he could easily make middle he would have done it by now, he wouldnt have taken 12 months to shave off 5 pounds. For some reason I dont know, I still have some faith that a 80% Mundine can beat a lot of contenders out there. But thats if he ever gets around to fighting them before the London Olympics.
True. I still think he could beat Sturm, but imo thats all he'll probably end up accomplishing. IF he ever steps up that is.
Maybe its Mundines plan to look average just getting the win so he can lull the big fish on the hook then wack......big win and title for Mundine......its either this or Mundine is going down hill fast.....I think he has more than he is showing ATM.
rubbish. if he couldn't get motivated for a kessler rematch then he might as well retire. atsch it's obvious he's having these fights for the money and nothing else. :bart
If thats what it's come down to from whatever fanbase Mundine has left, then thats pretty sad. I think he has declined physically. as I've said before, he gets hit too regularly now, and thats got nothing to do with motivation imo. It's all about the performance on the night. Instincts, and reflexes that are the cause of him getting or not getting hit. There was an instance in the Hamden fight where there was an exchange and Mundine got hit 3 or 4 times in the space of 5 or so seconds. He was throwing back inbetween too. Luckily for him it was only Hamden landing on him and not someone with power, otherwise it could have been good night. But it's something that I've never seen from Mundine, even against Kessler he was able to block or cushion most of Kessler's punches, and Kessler is a much more accurate and fast puncher. I still actually think he can cause a little ruckus though. I don't think Sturm smashes him at all. But the boat to put himself on the world map has passed, and he's only himself to blame.
got some interesting points there buddy, but you have to remember the respect factor, mundine fights aggressively and mixes it up with guys who cant punch hard, therefore not being scared to recieve blows. but on the other hand he is very defensive vs punchers and is hardly ever willing to mix it up.conclusion: mundine doesnt get hit as much whilst fighting against power punches, obviously gets hit more vs weak punches.:deal
