    Looking good there, RDJ....

    .......... for an older guy.

I'm kidding, I would get to the warming up and feel a bit shot.

I expected to be called a ***git :D

I pace myself in the warming up, but the reason I can keep it up IMO is nutrition. I'm on a ridiculously healthy diet when I workout and it's paying off lately.

Nutrition in my unhumble opinion is vastly overrated for someone who is reasonably lean/fit. They process bad things a lot better than out-of-shape people. There were days at uni when out of sheer boredom I ate 4-5 mars bars because they were on offer and I am the fittest I've been in a long while. 152-154lbs of MEAN MACHINE! Not exactly, but meh.

Hard work is much, much, much more important, for me. I am not affected if I have eaten kinda badly that day.

however, on the whole, I eat quite well, and take a fair few supplements most of the time.
However I am 12-13 years younger than you so I can probably get away with it.

I think it's severely underrated, 1000 kcal from mars bars will be worth less than 1000 kcal from broccoli and such. The amount of nutrients (vitamins, minerals and other phytochemicals) determines how valuable a food source is. Let's say you eat enough, but don't get enough iron. You'll be gassed in no time because iron is needed to transport oxygen in blood, so despite having enough calories your performance will suffer.

Young guys aren't in tune with their bodies I don't think. Once you get older and you've lived in your body for 30 years you start to notice the effects of what 4 candy bars does to you. You may not be fat and out of shape....yet but it will effect your performance and what you can push your body to do. You can't drive as far in a car that is low on crappy gas. Just like you can't run your body very far on crappy food.

1000 kcal of broccoli would be about 4 or 5 kgs :D

Amy doesn't like me but that's cool, she's the more accomplished fighter of the two of us for sure and I have to respect what she does.
    I'm just saying that I don't feel a LOT better if I eat super-clean and if I eat semi-clean.

typical day would be eggs and fruit for breakfast, pork chops and veg or spaghetti bolognese and veg (the former on weight days) and a pwo shake and usually a pizza for dinner. And I was progressing nicely like that. However snacks are either fruit or chocolate. I'm just saying people overrate eating clean, it's a lot of work that isn't totally worth it for me and it's no fun. :)
I've been in the army and you'd be surprised how far you can go on crappy/no food.
To each their own though, I'm not going to get on the internet warhorse of "LOLZ U SUX IM RITE UR WRONG AND GAY" :D

Keep up the good work, RDJ. What's your name anyway, RDJ makes you sound like a wutang wanabe that didn't cut it because he was white and a ***. :D

Story of my life, TheCock49. :)

It's all for fun though, I'm the first person to come to if you need encouragement, and I respect RDJ for what he's doing and we've been talking on this forum a bit for a couple years now, Amy is a competitor and has a lot of discipline in what she's doing so I also respect her and envy them both.

    Love you all!

    Good man MrSmall.

I'm going to say this only because I like you and I think you've got some potential...

You'll go a lot farther a lot faster in boxing as soon as you open your mind and drop the know-it-all attitude that you sometimes have. That's the biggest thing I see holding back so many young guys in the sport. We've all been beginners at some point. The sooner you admit that and soak up everything from the more experienced people on here and in your gym, the faster you'll rise to the top.

    /rant over....carry on.
