This should be beneath any supposedly boxing fan for criticising a fighter for retiring. What do you want everyone to come out of the sport like Ali, or McCellan

Let's say for the sake of argument Vitali won the next fight, then what? A rubber match?

Yup, they're were all scared of Klitshcko and that's why there's a W behind the name of Lewis and an L behind the name of Vitali when they actually fought.

Or do you remember they actually did fight and the outcome was TKO 6 and Vitali received about 60 stitches for his trouble. Ya if I gave someone 60 stitches I'd be petrified of him. lol

You klitschko fans are beyond stupid and clearly none of you have boxed a day in your life.

make a list of all the hw champs who were still defending at 38.

make a list of those who werent

compare the numbers to see which is the most common choice amongst hw champions.

you will find that lennox did what 99% of champions chose to do.

I go with the hw champions choices, not the sarcastic comment of a keyboard warrior with no experience of the circumstances.

Well I did start this thread asking if Lewis was overrated not if he should have rematched Vitali.

Yeh with a face cut up to shreds. What a way to retire a person, was one of hell a battle to retire a fat 38year old.

He was scared, his wife was scared, his mother was scared, Steward knew he was scared, that's the reality. You Lewis fans can cling in vain with all your might to your lucky cuts win, but you know and he knows the reality. He would rather live with everyone doubting him than step back in the ring with Vitali one more time, because he knew deep in his heart he may not be so lucky the second time.

even wladimir knew his brother was beaten that night, he tried calming vitali down. but he saw his brothers face was in tatters, and didnt protest.

Well Lennox was younger at 37 than Holyfield because of style. Holyfield started pro career at younger age and his 1st title fight was at 23 years. Lewis' first title fight was at 27. Holyfield had more wars and has slowed down by 37 more significantly than Lennox at 37.

That being said, if I were in their shoes, I'd prefer to retire at 37, not at 48 (like Evander).

Holyfield after reaching 38 had 7-6-2 record and tarnished his legacy in eyes of many people by fighting for so long.

If Lewis carried on like Evander he would've retired in 2014 and would've suffered few more losses. Would it help to his legacy? I don't think so.

In fact, Lewis made the right decision unlike Holmes of Holyfield or Witherspoon or many others who were fighting (and losing) till their late 40s or early 50s.

:deal true. vitali and wladimir were both kings in waiting, but they didnt beat the great lewis. lewis i would of liked to see face byrd, a style that lewis had never faced, wladimir deals with the slick style with ease. a bloated 38year old lewis would had problems with chris byrd.

He won the fight so what was there to be scared of. He also won the 6th round, the only thing he had to be scared of was permanently damaging the guy for life. Great a grip on reality. Lewis beat the living **** out of Vitali that night and no amount of spin is going to change that. I've been watching boxing for over 40 years and I can't recall a worse cut. Can you?

If they rematched don't you think that cut would have re-opened, the answer is probably yes.

The only Heavyweights that go on fighting into their 40's when they shouldn't are the ones that haven't got a pot to p.i.ss in, and YES that includes Holyfield.

Lewis retired at exactly the right time for him, fvck what his haters and soppy Klitchko fans think. With his money he could buy and sell all of those morons, and any moronic children they might breed.

The guy has well over a $ 100 million dollars, and growing ffs. he isn't a fvckwit like Tyson and Mayweather who spend fortunes on bling, and flash cars. The guy lives sensibly, and invests his money WISELY.

    LOL Utter Unadulterated Bull Manure...
Yes Lennox wife & Mother had been wanting him to retire for sometime thats true. But the reason Lennox retired was he'd beaten everyone he ever faced in the pro ring. There was no one else capable of giving him a challenge, To say Vitali retired him is ludicrous ROFLMAO Lennox at barely 80 % ready nearly took Vitali's face off imagine what he's do at 100%:patsch
