It’s true, modern fighters who know how to box never cross their feet.

PSA: Greb does not look good on film because his resume is legendary. These are separate issues.

But if you read about his fights, that was his style. He was unpredictable and, by all accounts, very fast. If you have ever read about him and expected to see a textbook boxer, you weren't paying attention.

I admire your analysis. However when I read you perspective about the feet, I immediately think of in Pernell Whitaker.

I consider him in the top rungs of fundamentally sound fighters, but he surprisingly crossed his feet all of the time (I definitely saw it in the Chavez fight.)

If you agree with that I assume you consider him able to break the rules instead of not knowing the rules?

    1. Greb has a legendary resume.
    2. He looks like **** on available film.

Number 1 does not disprove number 2.

What is laughable is looking at that clip and thinking that it is indicative of anything.

Mind blowing, and representative of possibly harsher standards for older legends.

Do you judge Jack Johnson on training clips as well?

No, because there's footage of him.

Imagine if all we had to go with the stories of Loma, Floyd, Ward, Manny, GGG, Ruiz etc was training clips. There'd be NO DEBATE that they look awesome and were awesome. A blind man can see it.

    Not so much with Greb.

I'm not sure he does. He uses lateral movement and half steps to optimise positioning. He steps into the jab covering range and shifts weight correctly with his overhand right. You have to remember he is sparring and pulling punches

Gerb was perhaps the fastest fighter of his time. Described at Amateurish, Greb was very hard to hit clean, and had an unorthodox approach where he moved around like a fast moving top out of control, peppering his opponents with too many punches at a pace they could not keep up with. Because he was very durable, this combination made him extremely tough to beat. If things got rough, Greb was a vert skilled dirty fighter.

Gene Tunney said you must box Greb, you must fight him.

Jack Johnson said, he was the fastest fighter he every saw.

My best guess is Greb would look the same in round 1 and 15 in terms of energy but his opponent would not.
