They're still around. Bud, Loma and Rigo are all super slick.

A lot of black American heavyweight fighters in the 1980s who grew up watching Ali....had their tribute act...in the form of the dancing and moving and /or fancy dan fast hands...but I'm guessing their not the slicksters we're talking about... So I think the mid 80s to early 90s saw a fair few of these guys who saw sugar ray Leonard and were inspired....there were some very slick guys who made a style their own like pernell, meldrick,Marlon starling,Don curry,Lloyd honeyghan could be a real fancy dan,oba carr, James toney,Terry Norris.......obviously there's a whole bunch of different type of slicksters in there.....Mike mccallum and toney were old school technical slicksters .....Taylor less technical more physical gifts albeit fleeting.....parnell with the defence and angles.....Shane mosley and Floyd in the 2000s....

Skipping around the ring and throwing jabs is not slick. Having fast hands or fighting with your hands down does not make you slick. There was nothing slick about Terry Norris or Donald Curry, and being a textbook fighter is the antithesis of being slick.
You generally won't find the very physically gifted among the ranks of slick fighters- why bother learning tricks when you don't have to? While there are certainly exceptions to the rule, most generally the gifted struggle with the slick.

Slick is knowing where to turn your shoulder inside to smother a guy, how to stay just inside or outside his effective range. How to really tie a guy up in a clinch and make it look like he is grabbing you. A lot of little things.
