Having rewatched RJJ amazing win vs then P4P superstar James Toney,
two thing that have been said retrospective to the fight.

Toney was dead at the weight, and contributed to his downfall, I dont think it would have mattered as jones has been so dominant for 8 years post Toney.

Another factor that has been overlooked....JONES fought the fight with a broken hand. If you watch the fight he rarely throws the right lead the whole fight.

It was mentioned before the fight Jones had a broken Hand.

    Thats even more amazing.

    What a fighter.

Toney always had weight problems(he still has at HW) but he was still beating everybody it took a special fighter in RJJ to beat him.

Jones had a damaged right hand and it was mentioned, I don't believe it was broken but he really used his leading left hook well and double, triple up with it. As we all know, Jones had lightning powerpunch handspeed so James could never master him with boxing like a professor without getting caught... He was far more intelligent against Mike McCallum rolling his shoulders and counterpunching with heavy leather but he could never get off against Jones and Nunn ( before the 10th round)... James walk right in and took it because he always had a sturdy chin and Jones walked away with the easy win... But James wasn't mastered like Richard Hall was, c'mon?
