Roy Jones hasn't been a decent puncher for YEARS. Same goes for Hopkins. When was the last time apart from against Calzaghe you saw either of these guys hurt an opponent with a single shot?? Calzaghe's chin is definitely a liability, you can't call it on Dawson without looking at both sides objectively. First off Johnson never KD Dawson, and never badly stunned him off any one punch. He made him very uncomfortable with his swarming pressure though, a style which a Dawson had trouble dealing with. A totally different style to the one Calzageh presents. Secondly, Kessler is very mechanical, and isn't a puncher either. Once again you are coming off as a hypocrite with your comments. Dawson has definitely proved himself against world class fighters, especially in the way he domianted tarver and Adamek. He has fully proven himself to be a class above both of these guys, and is definitely a polished pro. The fact that Calzaghe has had a longer career, has got nothing to do with who wins this fight. If anything, the youth of Dawson most definitely works in his favour when looking at the age of Calzaghe. Tarver and Johnson are both better fighters than Jones at this stage of his career, and have also proved it. Hopkins is probably the best fighter out of the 4, yet this really has no relevance when evaluating a Dawson v Calzaghe match up, as Dawson is a different fighter to Hopkins. Really not sure what your point is here... Dawson is in his prime, Calzaghe isn't. What are you trying to prove??
Im guessing you lot dont feel johnson and tarver are old and shot?? Joe is already a 2 weight champ and has beaten better fighters than Dawson in doing so
Im saying Dawson is fighting 40 year olds in his prime and calzaghe is fighting 40 year old when he's 36 think about it twat
I find it humorous when people watch a thoroughly dominating performance and off that conclude he will get beat...so u think he would lose that is fine..he would be the underdog but why base it on a fight where he completely dominated?
I'm absolutely certain Dawson will land will throw and land far more powershots than either Hopkins or Jones, and from what I've seen of Calzaghe's punch resistance at 175 that means great things for Dawson. Dawson may not be overwhelmingly strong in all areas, but he's a dynamic puncher with solid power. Calzaghe, on the other hand, doesn't pack the power to capitalize on Dawson's questionable chin. I see very little chance of this fight happening. Dawson could win this fight and Team Calzaghe knows it. HBO knows it as well, which is why they have been pushing to make it happen. The investment they're making in Dawson goes instant platinum with a win like that.
Adamek said at the post fight press conference for the Cunningham fight that when his right hand hits the target it will remove anyone from their senses. Anyone. Other than that remark he was extremely humble and soft spoken. There's every indication he meant what he said. I believe him for the most part. Adamek likely has a harder single right hand than Hopkins or Jones at 175.
so calzaghe has more experience??? how old is the #1 ranked cruiserweight who got owned by dawson...just checking? adamek would never show up on calzaghes resume at age 26 nor would the road warrior....but he may fight johnson on his senior tour
ALREADY,,,he is 36...dawson is 26 and has beaten 3 guys who at one time were number 1 at their weight
Well first off Adamek who he won the title off was only 31 at time they fought. Secondly, in his first 4 defences, he has faced one former champion and still top fighter in Johnson, and then picked up another belt against Tarver, another multiple time world champion. How about you go compare that to the guys Calzaghe defended against in his first 4.... Complete bums apart from Reid, who was still not a top 3 guy in the division. Your post pretty much summed up your level of intelligence. A childish insult, without responding to any of the points i raised. Please keep posting in this thread, i really want to see you make a fool of yourself in front of the entire forum, would be great for a laugh.
My thoughts exactly. Dawson impressively schools Tarver, shows blinding handspeed, brilliant combination punching, and looked in total control. Yet somehow that laid the blueprint for Calzaghe??? I'm totally lost.
Dawson would present Joe with Problems that he hasnt faced in his entire Career, and that is a young hungry fighter that can match his speed...A guy that will jab him on the way in and Dawson is a southpaw.....I think that its wishful thinking for Calzaghe fans to say that he would beat Dawson at all let along beat him easy...Dawson is a handful for anyone. I could see Joe outpointing Dawson given that he fights the way that Johnson does and johnson did well vs Dawson. problem is Im not sure that Joe has the chin that Johnson has, nor is he as tricky. Joe is open to be hit and tends to walk into shots. It would be a great fight, and fight that should be made if Joe fights on.
