That wasn,t such a disgraceful performance by Haye he took a few knees so what ? he took a couple of rounds , sure he lost but he wasn,t exactly beaten from pillar to post he landed a couple of shots and let loose with a lot of sloppy Haye makers , I still wander if he could of done better second time round . It was not exactly a devastating loss , not the sort that should of loss that should take him out of contention . Watch Kevin Johnson against Vitali now that was a truly lame attempt at the just surviving and not trying in a world title fight , hayes performance was not a Johnson. David Haye defo number 3 heavyweight in the world
Agree. He buzzed wlad late in the fight as well, iirc. The criticism of haye is that he wasnt willing to risk getting ktfo to win the belt. He did enough to be repectable
I'm a American, that was the first fight I've seen Haye fight. I was hyped for the fight, but that was a pitiful showing on any level, worse then nba flopping. I'm sure that was the first time Haye got prime time exposure here in the U.S. and it was horrible to the point they haven't aired another of his fights in the U.S that I've seen. David Haye could have blown up over here, but lost and has cried about it since. My toe was broken, I want a rematch, I want his brother wine wine cry baby. At least that's the image I have of him.
It's the gobbing off that Haye did prior to the fight which set him up to get ripped if he didn't perform too well. But he caused Wlad some problems, you could see it was a chess match in there and while Wlad was making it uncomfortable for Haye, you could see in Wlad's face that he needed to keep 100% concentration to make sure Haye didn't land a counter. That's where Haye's counter punching style will never work against Wlad, if someone with Haye's speed and power was a pressure fighter, that's what Klits would come unstuck against. Sadly Haye just doesn't have that style.
imo Wlad will always win the rematch. But i agree if you look at how Haye peformed againts the majority of Wlads challengers, he looked pretty decent.
Exactly. Haye does not have the stamina or the chin to use that kind of style, the exact style that would cause Wlad problems. I thought it was a good defensive showing. But, hardly an exciting offensive fight from either guy. Haye did have a lot of embarrassing moments though, enough to be ridiculed.
unfortunately for David, you don't win fights by making your opponent miss and throw back 10 punches a round, especially after all the pre-fight BS he said, though he might have saved some face if he didn't come out with the toe excuse after the final bell
He ran away like a coward .. why do you rewatched this joke-fight?? Even Pianeta showed a better fight.
Haye was/is a joke regarding his fight with Wlad. He did nothing. He $ucked. Like most predicted he felt that first jab and that was that. No rematch is necessary. Hell, Tony Thompson showed more manhood against Wlad, as did Wach and Pianeta. Let Haye fight the Chisoras and Furys of the UK. That's the level of competition he tops out at. I actually think Kovalev would beat the $hit out of him in a street fight.
Depends how you look at it. He concentrated almost entirely on defence and was succesful in avoinding getting hit. His offence was limited to single punches due to being scared of getting hit flush. He was trying to capitalize on Wlad's mistakes which never came. In the rematch the same thing would happen unless Haye comes in with a different game plan and thats taking a risk to get his punches off.
