I wouldn't bet on it. But I do think Floyd would've beaten Kirkland Laing.

Duran could beat anybody Mayweather beat, but he wouldn't be undefeated. He was less consistent than Mayweather, a better boxer but less disciplined. Duran would beat the **** out of De La Hoya or Alvarez and then load up on booze and burgers, losing his next fight to Victor Ortiz or something silly.

Of course, Duran was a bit smaller than Mayweather. If Duran had only been as ambitious as Mayweather and tried to protect an unbeaten record he would have never gone above 140 the way Mayweather doesn't go above 154. Instead Duran fought guys as high as 168. Duran would have some sort of freakish nearly undefeated record if he'd stayed that close to his natural weight like 100-1 or 100-2. His record would look like Jimmy Wilde or Packy McFarland's. But he would have fought all different opponents.

Instead of fighting Hagler, Leonard, Hearns, Barkley, etc. Duran would have faced Arguello, Pryor, Mancini, and Cervantes. He probably still faces Palomino, still beats De Jesus and Buchanan and retires practically undefeated with way more knockouts since he'd be fighting guys near his own size.

Hearns would eat him alive. That is stylistically one of the biggest nightmares I've ever seen.

Hearns has more speed than Floyd. He has so much more power. He's too long. He's too big. He's too strong.

Hearns finishes him and doesn't waste time doing it.

Well didn't Robinson go like 128-1 in his prime? And the lone loss being to a guy like 16 pounds heavier?

They tell me he just couldn't be beaten at Welterweight. I don't have an opinion because it's not on film, but that's what they say.

Yep, SSR was a marvel. But take a good long look at the glorious 30+ years that Duran gave to the sport of boxing. Even if he had retired (as I wish he had) after the Barkley fight after 20 years and 92 fights he'd easily be the GOAT if he had somehow made it to that point undefeated.

Just look at his toughest opponent of each year during this stretch...
    1978: Esteban De Jesus (LW)
    1979: Carlos Palomino (WW)
1980: Sugar Ray Leonard x2 (WW)
    1982: Wilfred Benitez (JMW)
    1983: Marvin Hagler (MW)
    1984: Thomas Hearns (JMW)

That is a totally batsh*t insane 7 fights over a 7 year period and I couldn't even list Pipino Cuevas in '83. And the guy was already 27 when he started that ridiculous weight climb! Imagine if he had turned pro in '78 and had his pro debut against De Jesus and then retired after the Hearns fight and those 7 fights listed + Cuevas were the only 8 fights he ever had in his entire career... if he went 8-0 over that stretch and that was his entire resume he'd be a surefire top 50 ATG based off that alone!

duran was 1-5 against the best fighters of his era. floyd is 12-0 against HOFers and 25-0 in title fights.

stop comparing a quitter like duran to a true legendary ATG fighter like floyd who never quite in the ring or was kmnocked out as many times as duran was lol.:deal

Why should he get beaten at welterweight if he's the size of a natural super middleweight? The accolades given to Robinson and Hearns for their runs at welterweight make no sense to me. They could fight, but their most impressive feat might just be their ability to cut weight and maintain their stamina and power. Ditto for guys like Paul Williams. If you get beat with those kinds of overwhelming size and strength advantages you should be ashamed of yourself.

It's pretty much a sure thing that Floyd doesn't go through Duran's resume unscathed.
