Would you rather have 1 punch knock out power or speed and reach/ I know speed can produce power, but I am talking about heavy hands and a fearsome punch. Oh ya you cannot have both

I'd rather have speed and reach (which is what I do have, incidentally).

Power is great, yeah, everybody likes power, but speed kills.:(

Speed and smarts can get past a hard puncher. I'll take speed over simple raw power any day.

Reach and speed if I had to choose. If I could just pick attributes and create my own fighter, I'd give Tommy Hearns Oliver McCall's chin.

speed and reach for me. Eventually you're gonna run into a pressure fighter with a granite jaw; that power ain't gonna do you no good then.

What was it that Vernon Forrest said before the first fight with Mosley, something along the lines of "height and reach beats speed and power." In the end all he needed was reach, on that night.

speed + technical skill = power.

    Mightn't help you everytime:

Haye: Relied too much on power earlier on in his career, then ran in Carl Thompson (granite-chinned) and looked what happened. Haye can box a little now.

Tyson: Became complacent with his power, thought he could KO anyone, then along came Buster Douglas.

Granite-chinned pressure fighter with a half-decent defence = KO'd power puncher (if the power puncher has nothing else to fall back on; but look at Ponce de Leon: when he couldn't get Penalosa out of there he fell back on primitive box-and-move skills, which he could do because he had the reach advantage; it won him the fight, although some will dispute the verdict).

David Haye had carl thompson on the ground 3 times that fight!

douglas over Tyson was one of the most bizzare things in boxing history cant really talk about the paranormal

If both of these fighters had Stamina then haye would still be undefeated and tyson wouldnt of lost that look at both tyson and ahye at the end of the douglas and thompson fight they were almost fallen down themselves, power and stamina nothing can beat them combined!

I take your point, but it is very hard to combine the two, since throwing power punches expends so much energy, especially if they don't land.

yea there arent many i remember who can go throw power punchs for 12 rounds if you watch some of rocky marciano then he may have a strong case for having both becuase if you look at his career he still has a string of kos in the later rounds watch some of his later fights then you will notice that he still had the power all the way through the fight! a great fighter who has Stamina and power,
