I was wondering what is more advantages, a two inch reach or a two pound weight advantage. What would you rather have as a fighter? I can understand being two pounds over the weight limit is wrong and I don't advocate for that, but does it really affect the outcome of the fight anymore than a two inch reach advantage? Opinions.

    No it's not.

    It depends.

    2 pounds at Heavyweight?

    Not so much.

2 pounds at a small weight? Perhaps.

But I think your question would be better served if it was based on 4 inches/pounds.

That would make a huge difference - The reach even so at heavyweight!

Nobody has ever cut 2 inches, but many have cut 2 pounds.

And keep in mind that 2 inches really equals 1 inch per arm -- reach is wingspan. Or it could just mean wider shoulders.

Ok, lets say two inches per arm. That's an advantage for a fighter who knows how to use it, yet, there is no issue with that because it's accepted that some fighters have longer arms than others. Then we got fighters that come in two lbs over the limit which is wrong but some people act like because of the two lbs, the other fighter doesn't stand a chance as if two lbs is the deciding factor. I myself think that a two inch reach advantage is a more deciding factor than two lbs. The naturally bigger fighter is gonna rehydrate more than the other fighter anyway so it's a wash. I can understand for the sake of the title but other than that, two lbs is nothing. Pretty soon they will be saying, he had a reach advantage, that's not fair, he should only punch out so far, or he had a height advantage, he needs to squat down to the opponents level. It's all bull**** and I posed that question to make this statement. If a man wants to ***** about something, at least make it about something with substance. I know I lost some people but it wasn't intended for the mentally challenged. Thanks for your input.:bbb

Since I fancy myself to be a stay on my toes and keep my distance boxer if I boxed. I would take any advantage in reach I can get. Call me a runner all you want. That's what unskilled guys say after getting their butts kicked. :bbb
