One thing I tend to do when someone buzzes me is smile. Is this a good or bad quality? The commentators always say "If he smiles and shakes his head like it didn't hurt it usually means it hurt!"I partially agree with this. What causes that reaction? sometimes I consciously smile other times not. Its weird when I think about it, psychologically its like saying to the other guy I just took your best shot and it didn't hurt me. would it be more effective to just not acknowledge it at all? thoughts?

    Weird question.
Body language is important, but sounds like you're over-thinking a situation.
When cameras are rolling and millions are watching you, it makes sense to pick and dissect every little move.
Not so much at our level :!:
IMO, it doesn't matter what your reaction is trying to say. What matteres most is that your opponent got a reaction from you in the first place. In that moment, it means he's doing something right.. it means he has control of the fight. You don't want to give him that. Keep your cool and make him work even harder to get anything from you. It is hard though. The body gives off signs without us realizing it.

If someone smiles at me in a mocking way, I will try to end his life.
So it might work against my opponent. But hey everyone's different.
When I get buzzed, I go even harder.

It's a good reaction I think, not much else you can do.

It depends on how your opponents reads your smile. He may think it hurt you, you're mocking him, it didn't hurt you, whatever.

A smile can mean many things, it's nothing to worry about... or is it? :!:

always ignore commentators, dont let them distract you. If it's involuntary dont worry.

Best thing to do when you get buzzed is bite down on that mouth piece and let your hands go.

unless of course you are either on wobbly legs, or being outclassed. Haha

Yeah its not a big deal, but my coach picked up on it and i started to pay more attention to it and I noticed its a habit. I was wondering how other fighters would react to it would it be better to have a poker face or not (if able)

No reaction is always better (I think) If it's a reaction and you cant help it then you cant do much about it, if you conciously do it sometimes I would stop it unless there's another reason. (Get opponent to come at you)

well if i get caught with a real good shot i smile and nod with acknoledgement that he got me. It doesnt really mean much honestly because after that i up the pace and get a bit more serious.

The variety of answers should be the answer in itself, those you fight will act differently, some may feel mocked and loose their cool, others may feel unease working in your advantage.

If you're leaving the opponent knocked out, smile away!

I always smile not in a mocking, bravado way just like the way you laugh when you **** up. If I get hit its my fault for allowing my opponent to hit me so I take it internally rather than getting annoyed at him.
