Going back RJJ was the undisputed P4P king and is one of my all times favorites, but he seemed kind of pathetic during the interview. He'd ramble continueously without making relevant points while Hopkins seem to nail one point after another. Its apparent that he needs Hopkins more. His 60/40 to the winner sounds fair, but a few years ago when he was in the drivers seat he wouldn't have agreed to that. Hopkins is just getting started while Jones is fading. Karma is a *****.

Kinda, but RJJ has a win over bhop. In that sense bhop needs RJJ legacy-wise.

I disagree, though Hopkins has gotten better and Jones has gotten worse Hopkins has a problem with fast fighters, his tactics don't work as well. Jones still has his hand speed and power, though he has lost his ability to commit to finishing he wouldn't KO Hopkins anyway. Jones is still a draw because of his name, its household. His plan for 60% for the winner is a fair idea. I'm going with another Jones UD even though the fight will never happen.

Yea i don't see this fight happening... I hope so they 60-40 winner/loser thing is good. If b-hop is so sure that Roy is not on his level he should take this fight like that. B-hop vs Roy will be PPV, but B-hop vs either Adamak or Dawson will only be on HBO boxing after dark. Only because the 2 aren't well known besides to boxing fans and not the casual watcher.

Hopkins not being slapped about and mocked is better for his legacy add to that he fights the better fighters, and has better longivety than him having a loss against RJJ who fights has beens and got slapped about And mocked by calzaghe. Calzaghe should hav knocked RJJ out instead of holding back because that might have actually knocked some sense into him but it seems he is deluded now!

RJJ was the man before but it's Hopkins who is now (out of the two)

Who is more marketable now ? I think Roy still brings more seats to the table and he deserves a bigger purse. 50/50 would be absolutely fair. He split 50/50 with Calzaghe. Hopkins is scared.

RJJ for sure. With Hopkins people expect a boring fight with a lot of holding. Hopkins needs the other guy to bring the people in - therefore he has to take on Calzaghe, Pavlik etc.

Roy can do that himself and takes Lacy, Hanshaw etc.

I disagree, it depends on which Hopkins shows up. If he pressures RJJ like he did Tarver because RJJ hates pressure fighters and he tends to lean on the ropes alot nowadays ( Calzaghe fight, glen johnson fight) then he can nulify his speed. 60/ 40 isn't totally fair because years back when RJJ was on top he wouldn't have agreed to that. Now that Hopkins is in the drivers seat he's willing. He will always have a win over Hopkins, but I don't see the fight happening. I see Hopkins winning this because its a long time coming for this fight and he will be ready. Jones has the ability to win, but if Hopkins uses the obvious blue print to beating Jones then its over.

I don't think Hopkins needs RJJ. People talk about the longevity of Hopkins and his ability to dominate current top guys, as opposed to his single loss to RJJ.

True RJJ doesn't need Hopkins for his legacy and visa versa. Both men are set in stone.

I don't think this fight will go along, entirely because Hopkins has too much to lose. Worse case for Roy is he loses to Bhop and people will just say how much he has declined since his previous victory over him, age hit him harder etc...

A loss for Hopkins however would prove more detrimental. It seems Hopkins is quite intent on stepping into the ring a good few more times (and with good reason given his domination over Pavlik), but a 2nd loss to Roy I think would seal his retirement. It's much safer for Hopkins to go for dawson/adamek, whom a loss against can be put down to age.

I would favour Bhop to win, but with Roy you just don't know. He's certainly retained his hand speed :S.

This has already been done to death on here but I mainly agree with the OP. I also can't believe some of the comments I've been reading on here recently. People must have some very short memories.

5-6 years ago, this fight made sense. Not anymore. It does nothing to neither one of their legacies.
