what u think if the announcing the scorecards after 8 is it only the wbc which does it because they did not do it in the froch fight which could have changed the fight but i remember when klit fought peter i think he retired on his stoll after hearing the scorecards what are the rules about announcing them
i was all for it when it was first announced but although it brings some transparency to who the judges are liking in the fight i prefer having the suspense and also fighters thinking they still may have more to do...imagine if Meldrick Taylor knew he didn't need to win the last round (which he didn't..shame his trainer thought he did) we would never of had the controversy or drama of that last round vs Chavez.
yea i thought under WBC rules the scorecards had to be announced after 8 and i hadnt actually thought why it wasnt the case in the froch fight because dirrel may have changed up. then again his grandfather told him he needed a ko going into the last round and he didnt really go for it so who knows
It is an optional rule I think. A bit like the one where a fighter automatically loses a point when his opponent is cut as a result of an accidental headclash (Berto vs Forbes for example).
I think its a bad idea. Didn't Peter quit against Vitali Klitschko after round 8 when it was read out that he was losing that can't be good for the sport :-(
I like it. Yes you lose suspense but the biggest killer as a boxing fan is seeing bogus decisions. That's part of the reason there is such suspense, you are half expecting somebody to get royally screwed. This does not eradicate that but it lets Fighter B know what he needs.
