Justin Biggs vs. Dominik Csaba Karoly, 6 rounds @ light middleweight

 

Round 1

Karoly is pawing his left jab out at the American, then plugging a right on the belly falling in, face dipping to his waist, then clinching. Biggs is popping a right jab, weaving in place at mid-range to slip & counter, jab for jab. Not many power shots thrown yet, and virtually none up top. 1-1-2 by Karoly falling in, caught on the underside edge of the forearms. Biggs is unrolling jabs casually into the exposed face of Karoly, who keeps instinctively drawing his rear hand back along his jawline when jabbing, leaving a sizable gap. Biggs lands a sweeping body combo. Right hand grazing the cheek by Karoly. Biggs takes a heel-toe step to his left and partially lands a southpaw cross behind a throwaway jab.

Round 2

Karoly is swinging left hooks on the way in and dropping right hands on the body. Biggs is countering with left uppercuts behind the jab. Biggs leaving the right jab suspended in the air and countering the combos of Karoly with straight flurries. Karoly dives face-first into a check right hook and is dropped to his knees.

Round 3

More of the same. Karoly is squatting in place and trying his jab on every floor, sending the elevator from basement to penthouse. No matter the altitude, Biggs is countering with his right jab off his cheek or from the hip, pivoting to step around Karoly, turning him and countering with reach-in lefts on the maw. Left uppercuts on the chest from Biggs. Karoly breathing heavily.

Round 4

Karoly is throwing wide swings now, getting dinged with single left hand counters repeatedly. Biggs is stepping lazily in either lateral direction, no urgency required in his motions, just picking Karoly apart without leaving first gear. Biggs mixing in body shots and forcing Karoly to hunch over with dry heaves. Karoly trying in vain to smother Biggs and unable to even hang on for a clinch as Biggs carries him into the ropes and slides him off like a jacket long before the ref can move in for a break. Karoly glances at his corner, perhaps entreating a white towel.

This was a ridiculously easy night's work for the young Brooklyn lefty, but even considering the pushover assignment Biggs looks a decent prospect. (assuming he is capable of producing more gears than we saw tonight)
