Real Deal: Toka Kahn-Clary vs. Emmanuel Domínguez & Rayonta Whitfield vs. Antonio José Nieves RBR

Toka must be wondering wtf he has to throw at this guy to get rid of him.

 

Round 8

Domínguez is sashaying halfway in but very leery of Kahn-Clary's counters. Kahn-Clary for his part is keeping his distance, using the full ring, putting out light right jabs. Domínguez starts to embolden himself with big fat left hooks from outside falling in. Kahn-Clary is putting up his vertical right forearm like a net to catch the hooks. Body shots appears to bother Kahn-Clary a little as they go into a clinch. Ref orders a break. Domínguez is throwing rights up top and left hooks at the sides, blocked on both accounts. Domínguez is unable to get past the right jab and teetering, swaggering crouch of Kahn-Clary. Every time he dives in he pays for it, eating big left hand counters. He's getting shier and shier about leading.

Domínguez is waving a jab at the head of Kahn-Clary and missing. Kahn-Clary is tired, not looking as sharp and fluid with his counters now, but still outscoring Domínguez by a wide margin. Kahn-Clary swaying to either side to now just barely slip the Domínguez jab, clapping him back with double right hooks on the ribcage. Kahn-Clary is swimming in low beneath Domínguez's headhunting combos and cracking him with lefts. Domínguez throws a hard body combo and starts to back Kahn-Clary up after landing a couple of scooping rights on the stomach. Kahn-Clary loops out a fat, soft left hand at the head. Very little steam on Kahn-Clary's shots now. Flurrying exchange before the bell, with both connecting but Kahn-Clary showing a burst of hand speed to land more.

Round 10

Domínguez is chasing after Kahn-Clary, putting out a high left jab. Kahn-Clary is easing into a clinch, sidling up next to Domínguez and then shoving him away with a push of the right glove against his midsection. Domínguez spun violently out from a clinch, nearly falling, and the ref wags a finger at Kahn-Clary. Domínguez tries pressing Kahn-Clary into a corner and opening up. Lands a couple of head shots but eats several more counters. Domínguez starts to whack the sides with low-slung hooks and Kahn-Clary moves away to ring center. Kahn-Clary is covering up, and squatting down to poke the body with a long-reaching right jab. Kahn-Clary slowing the pace in the final twenty seconds, tossing pot shot jabs from the hip from outside.

"T-Nice" has got to go. There must be a better nickname for him to use.

 

Farhood interviews Kahn-Clary. He says Domínguez was tough, and inquires as to whether the plan of Kahn-Clary & Roach was to stop him. Toka says he was told "just keep doing what you're doing and you'll get the victory".

 

Kahn-Clary makes clear that he is still trained by Peter Manfredo Sr., with whom he's been since he was 13 years old, and that he taught him 90% of what you see in the ring, and that Roach was brought in for fine-tuning. He says "we still gotta keep working, but if we do we're going to go somewhere..."

 

Freddie Roach says Toka boxed well, using angles & combinations, and says they're still working out the growing pains of being a team, having just started out. He says he wants to drill into Toka's head that he can't look to knock out everybody in the world.

Farhood asks Roach is a world title fight is realistic within a couple of fights. Roach says after just one more fight.

 

Whitfield vs. Nieves didn't happen, it seems (although whichever BoxRec editor updated the card still hasn't removed it from the page)
