I'm enjoying a great month of boxing, and see at least three more compelling matchups before the month is done. Why don't we spend some time talking real boxing here on ESB, rather than the "he said, she said" crap that's on the boards today.

Friday Night Fights kicked off last weekend with the highly regarded David Lemieux coming out of the chute with both barrells blazing only to fade and be taken out by the veteran Marco Antonio Rubio. Also on the card, a great KO which crossed over to SportsCenter and gave boxing some much needed exposure.

Saturday night's PPV featured the return of an all-time fan favorite in Eric Morales. Great action, great war, and one of those "did you see that fight?" events that is generating great word of mouth for boxing. I expect decent ratings for the replay on HBO Latino Friday night.

Now, this weekend we have Sho bringing us JML vs. Salido and HBO countering with Berto vs. Ortiz. I live on the West Coast and can only watch one live and can't decide which one to watch. Great night for a bbq.

Getting overlooked here is the can't miss matchup of Abner Mares vs. King Kong Abeko next weekend. This is a FOTY candidate. I don't see another fight on the calendar that promises as much action as this.

It's a great time to be a boxing fan. What has been your favorite part of the last couple of weeks? What are you most looking forward to? Which fight would you watch live?

Great event wins from Morales and Solis have been memorable, I'm waiting to see if anyone can pull out an event win this weekend. I can see McCloskey taking a beatdown in order to win the event, same with Salido against JuanMa

my favorite part of the last couple of weeks was definitely the morales thing being that hes my favorite of all time and watching him go down for the first time against pacman in the second fight is still the most devestating moment for me in boxing.

Im so proud of what boxing is doing, it is slowly sneaking up on america again. Theres alot more commercials now for boxing, the movie The Fighter definitely gave some good exposure. I thin kthe best part is that the young guys are fighting eachother and not dodging eachother. It seems like for the first time in a long time the best prospects are fighting the best prospects in order to determine REAL contenders.

Another thing, i think the "undefeated" aura thing is starting to disapear as some of our best fighters including PACman have losses on their records. Its great to see guys lose, LEARN, and then come back. I think that was a lost art in boxing for a while. The learning experiences from guys like Khan, Maidana, Ortiz etc... Boxing is looking good

Katsidis scored his third big event victory on the trot at the weekend. There was of course his destruction of Kevin Mitchell in the Londoners own home stadium, followed by the last gasp event win when he cried for his dead brother after getting his ass beat by Marquez, then he turns a beatdown by Guerrero into an epic EVT by performing well for 2 rounds and then getting royally ****ed over by the ref taking points off him for no reason. Kats is the EVT king at the moment.

Let's not forget his knockdown and his memorable "What are you lookin' at??!?" before the fight. Vintage eventing from Kats there

The Marquez one was ****ing incredible, he left it as late as you can possibly get when he snatched the EVT from the jaws of an LEVT. What a crafty ******* and it shows just how much these events mean to him.

I've always liked Katsidis, but now he is turning into one of my favorite fighters to watch. Almost like Gatti before he became an HBO legend.

Will be very happy if either Berto or Khan or both get KTFO.

Gatti is my all-time favorite, and the favorite of many others. I remember when he was on undercards and I would tell my friends, "get here early. the guy fighting before the main event is the guy you want to watch."

Katsidis is in that category for me now. He's a class act and a throwback warrior. I have all the respect for him in the world.

I don't agree with you often, but seeing Khan taking a nice little nap on the canvas would be great.

Katsidis was determined to win the EVT early Saturday. Have you ever seen him so confrontational and aggressive before? Kats cares about EVTs, that's why he is so often compared to Arturo Gatti.

Ortiz has a live chance at the upset and EVT win. He could also go the Maidana route "I quit" sacrificing the fight in order to ensure taking the EVT.

The silence is deafening. Next time I will make sure to include Pac or May in my title.
