With Mayweather and GBP not saying anything and no media outlet in the USA even touching the Khan - Mayweather story, it looks increasingly more likely this is complete BS. A story created by the British media only, who for the past 7 days have dumping continuous stories spurred on by each other, with no actual sources than the obvious Team Khan themselves. The fact they used Jeff Powell - their personal journalist today to make a headline only proves this further. So why would Khan do this?, so that he has a valid reason to avoid fighting Devon Alexander. If it looks like he is going to get Mayweather then people will forgive him for ducking it. But they all know he isn't getting the mayweather fight until he proves himself. Which leads to the question, why avoid Alexander and fight someone else. The reason is that Alexander holds the IBF welterweight belt. Whoever wins in Alexander VS TBA has to then fight the mandatory challenger... who is none other than Kell Brook. Team Khan are fully aware that if they beat Alexander, and then didn't get the Mayweather fight in May (which is quite likely) then there will be a media storm in the UK.. with Khan having to either give a gigantic payday do his near rival in a fight which although generates a lot of money does nothing for Khans chances at getting a mayweather fight.. and if he opts to relinquish the belt he comes out the loser with the entire country and his British rival being able to see that he has ducked Brook
Wether you like it or not, Khan is competing at a higher level then Kell Brook. Brook may yet prove to be the better fighter but his best win is over Matthew Hatton, Khan has beaten Zab Judah and Marco Maidana and schooled Pauli Malinaggi.
It has nothing to do with Brooks ability, inability, skill, who he's fought, his profile or any other crap some of you are coming out with. It is because he is the IBF mandatory.
Khan is also prone to getting knocked the fvck out...Diaz smashed him all over the place and that was meant to be a nice steady fight in UK waiting for a belt... if Brook grew a pair he would be mixing it with the very best... have that on your chips
If khan has to best somebody half descent to get the mayweather fight he may aswel give up, be it brook, Alexander or anyone else he won't manage to do it unless he fights someone feather fisted
agreed. Diaz was meant to be a warm up fight and that could have easily went Diaz way... Khan is caught between two stools, he needs to be more active but he is probably scared to take on fights through fear of getting knocked out... i do like a Khan fight though ,they are never boring....when they finally come around
I do not like Khan but I believe it is Team Khan and Hunter who are not that keen on Khan fighting Alexander. Khan is a brutal KO waiting to happen again, he has made no improvement with Hunter and was smacked around by Julio Diaz in his last fight and lets just say he fights Alexander and gets battered (highly likely in my opinion) it would take a massive rebuilding job and I am not sure Khan could rebuild again. This Mayweather story was testing the water and also trying to raise Khans profile by mentioning him in the same sentence as Mayweather. They were seeing if there was any excitement or interest over it and there has not been, people are asking why the likes of Danny Garcia have not been offered a Mayweather fight and I have not heard anybody give Khan a real chance. Khan will have to fight Alexander or maybe come back to the UK and beat Kell Brook in a huge domestic showdown to somehow justify a fight with Mayweather and the way Khan has looked recently I wouldn't bet a penny on him beating either.
Smart move by Team Alexander. They know Team Khan are not going to get much done today or over the weekend on any other fight and so by using the 7th of oct and 7th of dec (which is actually 9 weeks to the fight) they look like they are being reasonable saying they need 2 months as any fighter would , Team Khan has to either agree to it or potentially be left in the boxing wilderness if other things fall through. Team Khan don't seem to understand, there are no other options for a belt at 147 for them. They should be the one chasing Alexander
I still maintain the opinion that Brook would TKO khan... No matter how different of levels their competing at. If you think about it? Khan faced a shot Diaz and got knocked down in his very last fight? A shot Diaz imo is the equivalent too Senchenko who brook is facing... So when people talk about levels i think people keep on thinking about the Khan of 2009-11, which is in the past now. ATM Their on the same level. Brook is mandotory for the belt khan is supposedly fighting for... So? Come to think of it all that "hes on a different level" b.s is like two years old now... Khan is on the decline, Brook can only get better.... Its a fact, whether you brook haters like it or not
How long ago? Khan has been negotiating for a fight with a man Brook is mando for, how is that operating at different levels again?
