a punch landed prior to the fall, which was not a trip, that is a knockdown. It is also clear, to me, that Molina was definitely hurt when he went down, despite his protesting aftewards.

That said, I'm not defendign the ridiculous DQ stoppage, but that was a knockdown.

Dan pretty much echoes most people's opinions on the matter. Can't disagree wih any, although i'm not quite as angry as some. Maybe I'm getting calloussed to this sort of nonsense.....which is not a good thing, mind you.

At the very least, Dan's rant might get him off his fixation on glassing and toes.

The precedent was already set, the ref in this case also asked his boss what the **** he was supposed to do and was apparently told the same thing as the Molina-Kirkland Ref.

When I read your post that stood out to me too and was the only thing he said that i didn't agree with.

Please Oscar would have jumped in the ring and hit Molina with a bat if he couldve got away with it. Kirkland brings in way more fans, money, tv dates ect then Molina ever could no way they were unbiased in this fight.

Classy move by Man Wolfe at the end though.. gotta give her credit for coming up to Molina and telling him he was winning.

She really is no bullshitter. She told James throughout that he was botching it and needed to step it the **** up. So did Morales' dad in the main event.

heh - rule #1 of trying to get someone into boxing: NEVER introduce them to boxing via a live fight.

If they're totally boxing ignorant, play them a recorded fight that you already know is awesome pretend it's live. That way you won't have to worry about it not being an entertaining affair, and if you want to milk it a bit, you can make all kinds of accurate expert predictions throughout the fight. Your friends will think you're some kind of boxing prophet.

I liked that Kirkland actually listened to her and turned it up. I will say that James actua.lly has greatly improved his defense and head movement, just didn't turn up the pressure until late, then the refs ****ed the fight

I can shamefully say I've used this technique before with great results.

Yes defense, Kirkland has improved defensively, Catching punches with the gloves, moving his head, rolling punches he has improved greatly.

He would get his clean occasionally, but Molina did as well.

The main problem for Kirkland was he opted to sit back for some reason instead of intelligently applying pressure. Definitely a learning experience for both skill wise.

I hope there is a rematch.

Props to Dan Rafael. I agree 100%. It's amazed me that some idiots on this site have actually come out in defense of the ref's decision.

Only haters, no one legitimately says the ref made the right decision, the worst part is that it stop what was becoming a great fight.
