Best MW in the world? No, he hasn't proven that in the ring as of yet. Hopefully he'll get some fights against the top tier MWs soon so we can find out if he will be or not.

Wait until Golovkin actually gets those high profile names in a boxing ring. The guy does not get out of second gear in his fight and he uses them more as live sparring sessions. Competition brings out the best in everyone over all walks of life regardless of their chosen endeavor. Just wait and see how Golovkin performs under those circumstances.

I don't see Kessler and Froch as that special. RJJ, JC, BHop, those guys were special, and Ward hasn't beaten anyone that good.

I think GGG cleans out MW every bit as convincingly as Ward did SM.

Kessler and Froch may not be ATGs, but they're better than anyone Golovkin has fought. Froch is a top 10 P4Per, and Ward embarrassed him.

Don't mean nothing, styles make fights.

Bika is far from being a top 10 P4Per and gave Ward all he could handle (7-5 or 8-4 depending on how you scored the last two rounds).

Not saying the Lomachenko express is the right direction for all fighter, but if you look at the way Ward, Dirrel and Bute accelerated through the pro ranks, you'd have to think GGG woulda been better suited being handled in that way.:think

Golovkin imo is the best MW in the world and he's the best in the world through the old wisdom of "if you've got to avoid something, you're hiding something". Ward calling him out and wanting him to move up before he's even had a chance to clean MW(which then that would be a great showdown), is erroneous because Ward himself has already cleared out SMW save for 1 or 2 more matches and needs to be thinking about moving up to LHW. If Ward doesn't move up to LHW, but wants MWs to move up to him, then he will then deserve to be criticized for that despite the fact that he's a rarity that's totally cleaned out a division in modern boxing.

I think outside of Ward, 3G would be one of the best at SMW. He's obviously to be favored over any MW alive, but his ceiling in my eyes rests at the MW level, which he makes very comfortably and could easily routinely cut to 157-158.

Future P4P no. 1? No.

Best fighter in boxing? Not even close.

Best at MW being ducked by a bunch of yellow, disgraceful, unfortunately weak era? A resounding and inarguable YES.

Let's hope yellow Martinez gets in the ring and hands the torch over after he KOs little shot Cotto so we can see another division properly cleaned within a growing boxing climate of great new talent.

Good post. I agree with all of it apart from the bolded.

IMO Mayweather > Ward. I also think GGG could potentially become p4p #1 if Mayweather retires and GGG beats Ward (I know that's a big if).

Martinez isn't ducking GGG. You can't blame him for wanting a huge money fight with Cotto, especially when he doesn't have many more fights left in him.
