Are the ratings based on his size or are they supposed to be objective...

By objective HW standards...Wlad has good hand speed, not great.

If they're based on his size, then my rating go up a grade...

I believe people are too easily impressed...

Ali(obviously), Larry Holmes, Riddick Bowe, Shannon Briggs, Lennox Lewis and Gulota are all in Klit's general size range and they all have faster hands than Wlad or Vitali. Not to mention the smaller HWs(past and present) who are all faster than the Klits...

riddick bowe, shannon briggs, lennox lewis and golota are no where near at vladimir klitschkos hand speed, vitalis handspeed is way slower than wladimirs.
in my opinion vladimir has very good handspeed, he is a little bit faster then lewis and bowe, but way slower then ali and a little bit slower then holmes, tyson was way faster too, and haye is a little bit faster then vladimir too, but golota and shannon briggs and were never even a C grade at handspeed

Did you see the fight? Wladimir's hands didn't look slow compared to Eddie's. If anything it was the other way around. Cambers attempted to engage in some exchanges in earlier rounds and Wlad beat him in speed every time.

Doesn't mean Wlad is the fastest puncher ever, just not as slow as he is made here in the forum.

How many Bowe, Lewis, Briggs or Gulota fights have you seen? Wlad has decent hand speed but he only throws two punches:patsch. Bowe, Lewis and Briggs threw combos like MWs. Gulota(in his prime) hand comparable hand speed to either Klit. Watch the film please.

Chambers' hands were faster. His problem was that they were also a lot shorter.

Keep in mind that I really like Wlad and Vitali as fighters but people are starting to get carried away with some of the comparisons. :-(

    Disagree..

6'3 like Holmes is a lot different from 6'8 like Vitali. Tall men will never look as fast as they actually are, just as a 747 looks slower than a Cessna, when in fact it'smuch faster. The eye relates absolute speed to the size of the object moving, which is why so many thought the Klitschkos are slow only to find out in the ring they are not.

Herbie Hide was considered a very fast HW and he had no speed advantage over Vitali. Chambers was nicknamed "Fast" for a reason. Where in the fight did he have a speed adavantage? In terms of the ration of landing punches to taking them the Klits are extremely effective.

He is refering specifically to hand speed not the ratio of punches landed to punches taken.

His punch variety aint B-, its much lower all he has is a Jab, straight right, and the rare (extremely rare) left hook.

For a person that is physically bigger alot taller than most of his opponents, he rarely throws an uppercut, coz that means he would have to get in the inside, and his chin (not a C), is vulnerable.

    Not bad,

This is a reasonable assesment.. There might be some things that I change in a marginal manner, but for the most part you've graded him well... Where I think he may be lacking, is in some of the intangibles such as the ability to regain composure once he's hurt.. He did show some heart against Sam Peter and a few others, but he's not the type of fighter that I would ever like to see get into a war or slugfest with a dangerous puncher who had a solid chin and fast hands....
