Good point. I don't see Chavez able to cut off the ring on Serg though. His footwork, although VASTLY improved under Roach, is not quick enough and his defense, also VASTLY improved will struggle with Serg's fast combos.

Unless Chavez borrows Pacman's legs, I can't see him catching Serg.

Martinez scores some early knockdowns and then we will have a WAR.

Sergio didn't need to use as much movement against Barker and Macklin as they don't come into the ring with the size advantage what Chavez jr will.

The problem is, Martinez cannot sustain that movement for 12 full rounds. At a certain point, he plants himself and presses the attack. This will be Chavez's opportunities.

I agree, but I think Martinez will move enough while scoring punches to win by UD, also it's not like Martinez' attack is useless, unless Chavez gets on the inside which I can't see happening enough in the fight I don't see how he can beat Sergio.

It's very likely we disagree but that is why this fight is very interesting.

    I do.

1, Paul Williams fought a style that didn't suit him.
2, Paul Williams balance left him exposed.
3, He was a 154lb fighter, forget the height. His optimum fighting weight was 154.

1, Kelly Pavlik couldn't really make MW anymore. The man had a damn bike in his living room. That sound like world championship preperation to you?

2, Hopkins had exposed the flaws in Pavlik. Lateral movement, use your feet to change the angle and don't allow Kelly to set his feet.

3, Pavlik was having Alcohol problems.

Chavez will lose, but he's a very live dog here.

No, I see your point. I'm very interested to see how/if Chavez can actually wrangle Martinez in with his own footwork. This fight can go either way, there are a lot of factors that could benefit either guy come fight night.

My one contention is that we haven't seen Martinez truly "pressured" in a very long time. And Martinez has a bad habit or trading when he is.

Martinez planted his feet for Barker and Macklin because he had faith that he could stop them with his power.

Here he will be less sure, despite what he says; so I doubt he'll go looking for the knockout, but if he sees an opening, expect him to go for it like a man possesed.

No, ******. They hit Sergio, because Martinez was prepared to fight them. He was sure that they'd fall before he did. He fought them as a Boxer puncher, rather than as a Boxer.

I don't know, I gotta be honest and say I'm not overly impressed by Chavez, will likely watch a few replays before the fight though

This is the only time I can see him getting caught and even then it's a long shot in my books, any idea how to watch this fight legally in the UK?

Lol your worse than a journalist for twisting words, Martinez had power and speed over Macklin and Barker so therefore didn't have to move as much.

This is nothing but hyping the fight, you gotta remember this is both fighters biggest paydays.

Movement is not running, ask your buddy Dirrell.
