Realistically... Which UK fighter from 140-154 could test Mayweather?

Thats a bit harsh. Calzaghe, Hatton and Lewis were three very good fighters.. when exactly did britain ever produce great fighters?

 

Naseem was another great fighter from Britain.

How the hell can anyone claim Amir Khan could hang with Floyd Mayweather ??

He couldnt even hang with a guy Kevin Mitchell took to school.

He boxed the wrong fight when he fought Prescott and he is hell of a lot better fighter now, whether he could love with Mayweather is a different matter though.

I'd even question that, Calzaghe stayed on the WBO road too long, never dared to test himself in America, never dared to realistically negotiate with Hopkins and Jones before those 2 got old and before had secured himself financially. Couple that with him operating in a 'Stepping stone' division like SMW were any self respecting Middleweight is already looking to LHW ..

I am perhaps considerably biased against Calzaghe, but every fight fan is pro and against certain fighters depending on the decisions they make ..

Lewis on the other hand is lauded as a top 5 Heavyweight by many fight fans .. No other Heavyweight top 15 fighter gets beat by 2 average fighters like McCall and Rahman, Louis, Ali, Johnson, Holmes, Marciano etc doesnt relinquish the title to these 'try hards, with no skill' .. Lewis's era was in fact the starting years of the Klitschko's era .. People can overhype guys like Tua, Briggs an old Holyfield and an old Tyson all they want but the simple fact is, Lennox Lewis sat behind a pawing jab, using his vastly superior reach and no guys ever had the ounce of ability to cut the range and get him into a proper fight .... Dont get me wrong Lennox had great skills, and he deserves a low-end top 10 place in Heavyweight history but when you get people comparing him to Larry Holmes it is absolutely ridiculous, i've even heard people compare the Lewis jab to Holmes's, Holmes's jab was a weapon, Lewis's was a pawing range finder for the right hand, and that right hand was only ever thrown after audiences started booing through boredom .... Lennox Lewis had the potential to be great but his cautious attitude along with his defeats against 2 of the most ordinary heavyweight fighters of the last 50 years tarnishes his legacy ..

 

Realistically? At the moment nobody and thats not an insult bc really there are very few in the U.S that could test him either. As few I mean 5 or less fighters.

 

Honeyghan that beat Curry would give Mayweather one of his toughest fights.

 

Totally disagree, Curry was a guy that played a dangerous game with the scales, he was struggling desperately with Welterweight 2 years before the Honeyghan fight ..
Not taking anything away from Lloyd but Curry that night was akin to Oscar De La Hoya when he fought Manny Pac, he was drained and anyone who has seen Curry at his best knows it ..

Curry took chances, he didnt want to go to Middle because he believed he was giviing away too many advantages, Light-Middle was a 'stepping stone' division and there was no money in it. So he stayed at Welterweight and he paid the price against Honeyghan ....

To take down Mayweather you'd have to bring in Hearns or Leonard from the modern era, maybe Duran, Pryor or Whitaker .. You'd need either a devastating puncher with range like Hearns or an adaptable fighter who has ideas to cut range, an orthodox fighter or a wild 1-dimensional banger like Honeyghan isnt going to do anything with Floyd ..
