Realistically who if anyone can stop Giorgio Petrosyan? masato is gone, buakaw will not be competing and andy souwer will not be competing but even if he was he has been handled easily twice by petrosyan. Artur Kyshenko..... well I dont know what his problem is, I personally thought he won his last fight- but just barely. He certainly did not look his usual aggressive self. it seems Kyshenko and petro wont be fighting anytime soon. fighters outside K-1 is another story......... Petrosyan's next fight is November 8th against Albert Kraus. This content is protected http://www.k-1.co.jp/en/event/2010/1108_max/index.html I am expecting a serious beatdown of kraus:deal he may end up looking somewhat like this. I think the best chance is for Zambidis to do it if he can draw him into more of a boxing fight, as he has huge power. He is just better than everybody else at the moment.
Zambidis does have serious power and your right his best chance with petro is to make it a punching brawl but remember zambo is 5' 6" and goirgio is 5' 10". petro should have the reach advantage and will have the advantage of head movement, footwork, and defense. also remember that petro when in close loves that knee to the body that dropped andy souwer = bad news for anyone. its gona take a powerful well placed shot and timing to end petro in k-1, or technical abilities the likes of buakaw at his zenith..... but who's got it?
yeah thats true but what about outside K-1 like yodsanklai for example, he could probably chalange even a skilled guy like petro
I think Souwer might be able to do it, he did take him to an extra round (although I haven't seen the fight).
Guys like Zambidis and Drago might land one big shot I spose but I think there aggresive style would play into Petro's game, they'd be chasing shadows and tired out/beaten up after a round. Masato coming out of retirement would have the best shot IMHO as the only guy with boxing near to Petro's.
masato is retired for good though right? then again you never know. what about pajonsuk, buakaw, or yod you think a thai could do it in k1? sagadpet seems to small.
apparently It says on wiki he lost by decision. buakaw and nonthanan come from the same gym and you can bet if he had fought buakaw in Thailand instead of a Sweden he would have lost that match in 2007.
he already has a ton of experience, over 60 fights. I really like his potential, I hope they give him good competition so we can enjoy the action:good good luck petrosyan he will need it.
The word is he's retired but since he's only 31 I wouldnt be supprized if he makes some kind of a comeback even if its only a one off NYE match. I don't see any stylistic weakness with him, he's got both a strong grounding in MT and incredable boxing. Its going to take either an underperformance by him or an inspired performance by his opponant for him to lose.
Buakaw probably would've done so last time were he not blatantly robbed against Souwer in their bout. Souwer wasn't even a match for Petrosyan by then. That said, with Buakaw out, I don't see anyone in the limelight that can do it.
