Same reason he dropped his uncle, same reason he dropped that young trainer he had for Pacquiao, same reason he dropped Stewart. He blames his lack of skills on the trainers.
Many times fighters have to find excuses for their losses. And instead of looking at themselves and say "i just wasnt good enough." they look elsewhere for the reason why they failed, it makes it easy for them to continue fighting if they think the reason why they lost had nothing to do with them. But sometimes they really need to change trainer to try and fix some errors they make and change their approach in fights and the way they prepare for the fights but in this case i would lean more towards the blaming others reason i gave, but thats just my two cents it could have been something completely different, only them know the reason.
Actually no, he left his uncle because he prioritized other boxers that messed up training schedules and didn't like Phil Landman and didn't tolerate Cotto going out, and there was some sort of physical altercation and Evangelista threw a cement block on Miguel's car. He left Santiago because Santiago didn't know what the **** he was doing. Cotto looked the worst in his career under him because of his lack of experience. In the lead up to the Pacquiao fight he gave away tactics by announcing the rounds of Pacquiao-Marquez 2 he was studying. In the corner, after the 4th, he had nothing technical to advise. But even with all that, Cotto didn't drop him, Joe stuck around when he hired Steward and stepped aside for the good of the team. Diaz was actually the guy Cotto originally wanted to get his career back on track, given their history in the amateurs, but Diaz said he didn't have enough experience at the pro level to come in. So once he was ready, Cotto employed him. But before that, he trained with Steward. He never lost with Steward so there's no loss to blame on him whatsoever. Just a matter of preference. And in this case, with Cotto looking uninspired against Trout, it seems that Diaz dropped him for lack of work ethic in their third camp. So let's squash this myth that Cotto loses and then fires everyone because he's a sore loser who doesn't blame himself.
Pedro brought the best out of Cotto but as bladerunner says some fighters need excuses, it's anybodies fault but their own.
Hitman Diaz was pushing Cottos lazy ass too hard in camp thats why. http://www.boxingforum24.com/showthread.php?t=461148
Diaz too strong for that ***** cotto. Mentaly cotto can not withstand the way pedro pushes you mentally and physically. he needs someone to caress him. Cotto has always been a mental midget.
A shame Diaz seems like a mad genius ! Roach can't repair the wear and tear that Cotto has already suffered ! And with Rigendeoux I honestly doubt he misses Cotto !
Why did Cotto even drop Steward? Language barrier? Steward too busy with HBO and Wladmir? "personal preference" for Diaz who then dropped him (lol)..?
cotto is mentally weak even in the 24/7 vs Floyd he mentioned how he's not comfortable with Diaz's attitude and personality, he's loud and commanding.
Steward was hired in the meantime while Cotto had his eye on Diaz. Rumors are that Diaz left Cotto because of a bad camp leading up to the Trout fight but we can't really know. Yes a future HOF boxer who had two of his biggest performances in his career under Diaz was so mentally weak he just couldn't handle the yelling I didn't see the Cubans talking **** when Cotto was impressing people under Diaz, funny.
