I don't get why Floyd fans are getting excited for; is he gonna give you some of his money once he wins; is he gonna hook you up on 50's next track? Simply put there is no fighter out there who can beat Floyd - a Martinez type of fighter could make the fight competitive though.

Cotto is gonna try his best; that's all we can ask for in a person.

How many times mayweather said that he is going to come out fighting one way, just to fight another way?

Fought a shot to **** Margarito, anybody is going to look lightning fast against him.
Right hand is good but not good enough
Guard has improved but could be due to opposition faced i.e. **** Mayorga and Margarito
Again, fought a Margarito who clearly was not even close to being the same fighter that pummeled him the first time

    Cotto will lose.

Speed and the positioning of the hands in a guard are things you can spot irrespective of the opponent, as are balance, punching form, etc. Cotto looked better facing the same fighter he first lost to; care to explain what was so vastly different about Antonio's style and conditioning besides a swelling eye?

Favoring Mayweather makes sense for a number of reasons, but not the stupid simplified ones people are putting forth.

Scuff marks! Hmph. Margarito landed some good shots on the inside when Cotto was pushing him against the ropes and Margarito would pull backwards out of the clinch and drag Cotto with him, creating a space for some uppercuts, but Cotto just stood there taking them fine and paced himself.

He looked pretty quick to me in his last bout, irrespective of whether Margarito is the slowest boxer in history or not.

You should probably watch his right hand more then.

In this one, he sets up his left hook with a short straight right...

Again, sets the left hook up off the left hook-straight right...

They are just two examples, and that wasn't even the best use of his right hand. He had plenty more shots with the straight right that he planted on and shook Margarito to his boots...I just can't find the GiFs. Easily found by watching it again.

If you seen his use of lateral movement whilst punching in his last bout, no, he doesn't always have to setup before punching.

Mediocre footwork? Really? Someone like Maidana has mediocre footwork, but Cotto?

He slows down, but I guess it depends on what your definition of tires means. He doesn't completely run out of gas.

His defense is not great, but Diaz has added a different dimension to his defense...which is his footwork.

remember that although castillo/may was a while back castillo is just as slow as margarito and he was landing punches on a much faster mayweather then than now

Nothing is irrespective from the context in which you find it. You cannot separate how good a fighter looks from the quality of his opposition. When fighters continually exhibit those qualities against increasingly elite fighters, these attributes become concrete. The fact is that his defense, speed, and technique looked better against opponents who were far past thier best.

Margarito's style and conditioning maybe have been the same, but he as a physical specimen was not. He was much slower by hand and feet, and his body can't take the same punishment that it used to, particularly his eye. Margo's style was never predicated too much on footwork and handspeed, but a noticeable drop in both after a series of beating and one long lay off made it clear that he would not be as effective.

    this....

plus the fact that mayweather doesn't move around as much as he used to and has been getting caught clean lately. *see mosley...and ortiz right before the head butts...*

I took the 'he has to set up his punches' to mean the fact he always has to reset himself to throw

Jab, lateral movement, PLANT FEET, jab right haand left hook

    (repeat)

He did seem to have corrected this a least partly in the second Margarito bout

No way in hell is he getting stopped early

As for his footwork it's strange, he has good footwork, but his constant movement / dancing /hopping about can leave him flat footed and I'm certain it's one of the reasons he fades so early
