I've pondered this for sometime.....I feel there are a few reasons Joe and his fans would benefit from Joe losing..

    1. If Joe does win this most likely will be his last fight, and if he puts on a good performance in winning, why stop?

    2. If Joe wins and wins big he won't get much credit at all....people will talk how much more shot Roy was than they thought previous....

    3. If Roy wins and looks incredible doing so, wheres the shame in that? Big ****ing deal Joe lost his "O". Newsflash people the greatest fighters in history have lost to other great fighters:deal

    4. If Joe loses but wins a rematch this will boost his legacy enormously, also forcing a third fight....but mainly it will show Joe can overcome adversity and bounce back(this is a key ingredient)

    5. Ultimately I would like to continue watching him fight, and losing to the most gifted fighter that has ever put boxing gloves on is ok, even better would be Joe avenging the loss....

I guess I just feel that Joes legacy would benefit much more if he lost to a reinvigorated Roy as oppposed to beating a "shot" Roy

    Your thoughts:think

    you make some interesting points

Roy winning in a spectacular return to form and forcing a rematch and/or trilogy would certainly make this whole cricus much more worthwhile

    go Roy!

Nobodys resume ever benefited from losing a fight vs winning the same fight.

Just because you want to sit on the fence and say that Jones is shot if Calzaghe wins but not shot if Calzaghe loses doesn't make it so.

If Joe loses to Roy pundits will just taunt him even more, saying that he lost to a shot fighter.

    No, no, no.

Best case scenario is Jones looks good, the fight is somewhat competetive and Joe wins. Or joe breaks his hand and wins.

Even if Joe hammers him it is better than losing.

    Losses never help.

Thats not true here Cobbler....alot of this is based on just HOW Roy looks and of course the outcome

I don't think you will ever convince a fan to want their favourite to lose anything.

Thats bull**** TFFP.....Its a historical universal that Greatness is partially defined by overcoming adversity(losing, then rebounding)
The list of ATGs that have lost is a long one
