Do you have to lose to overcome adversity? I don't believe so. Joe was knocked on his ass in the first round against Hopkins, a long way from home. 2 points down, against the smartest operator in the game. Don't you think things looked shakey at that moment? I don't see that losing to Jones helps him given what he has displayed recently.
Then get the **** out of here cocksucker......You took plenty of time out to highlight each individual number than respond to it like a ****ing jackass as oppossed to just highlighting the entire post....:-(
You said Joes fans. Didnt say anything about being fans of both fighters. Anyways, i'll stop shitting all over your thread. :rofl :rofl :rofl
Shitting on my thread??? Please son you have to come up with something better than emoticons to do that:yep :good
Sorry. I want Roy to win but my desire his not stong enough to try to convice Joe's fan with arguements like that. If Joe wins he retires 46-0. No scenario is better than that for him.
I want Roy to win but his chances are slim, really slim.I'm also a Calzaghe fan and I don't really see him fightinh on except losing this one.And he ain't gonna lose this one
I don't think it would work well. It has already been established that Jones is past it. People(read: non-fans) would say, that JC would never have been able to win against Hopkins or RJJ in their primes - right now it is still a question mark. Calzaghe will be rediculed, because people would know that Jones is indeed past it. They will even begin to call the win over Hopkins dubious. JC would be hailed as a Euro-bum, no matter what he has done in the past. Why? Because that is the line of thinking in ESB. Losing to a man whose main assets have been taken by father time, would not be fighting against adversity, but the end for Calzaghe - and probably also cost him a ATG tag. Hopkins would rather face Jones, than a rematch with JC, and I doubt Jones would be willing for a rematch. If he did get a rematch with Jones, what would he prove other than he did lose a fight to a vastly faded boxer. JC is too old to learn from adversity. And this is not a time career defining fight, its a money fight and nothing more. Lastly, this will not happen, because Jones is no elite fighter anymore.
Well Dane, lets assume Roy puts on a performance that is nothing short of incredible, clearly turning back the clock.....this puts to bed the whole "he's shot" "he's past it". Instead people will be saying "Roy is again the greatest" and so on....Roy has already talked about fighting Calzaghe more than just this once... Now if Roy can once again showcase his wizardry and beat Joe convincingly, would you not call him elite? Would you not want to see Joe avenge that loss??
It is indeed possible, and it will indeed be said. (I'm not saying it's right, it's just the way it is)
