I received the Purple Heart for 16 battle wounds. Resumed my career and was considered the best P4P puncher in the business. I COULD HIT way beyond my weight.A coming champion until one disasterous night at MSG. I kod 65 opponents in 75 wins.Who was I ?
hh,soon as I saw your name, I knew I was a goner. Well for other ESB fans. Tommy Gomez from Tampa Florida,at 180-2 pounds was a devastating puncher, especially with a left-hook. He was always outweighed but still flattened 65 opponents in 75 wins...In the Battle of the Bulge Tommy Gomez received SIXTEEN battle wounds, and received the Purple Heart. After recuperating from his wounds he resumed his career, where he was considered to be the next Joe Louis,by most boxing people. He was matched with the PRIME Joe Walcott in a match that I saw with baited breath, along with other fans to see the new Jack Dempsey/Joe Louis. Tommy was the crowd's favorite ,spotting Joe Walcott 10 pounds. But Jersey Joe at his zenith burst the Gomez bubble and stopped brave Tommy in the 3rd round. Very few fighters in history, would have beaten this edition of the 1946 Walcott.Good show Henry:good
