Post exercises that you find beneficial and would recommend to others, and why.

Planche push up - I can only do one of these at the moment! Still improving though, hopefully in a month or two I'll be banging out sets. Extremely difficult... I could do twenty five proper dips but when I first tried these I hadn't a hope of even balancing in the position let alone pushing myself up. For anyone who doesn't know, the planche is the push up position, but with the feet off the floor, requiring muscles that other push ups won't target. The front shoulders, stomach, chest and lower back are under extreme pressure to try to balance the body which is purposefully at a severe leverage disadvantage. This **** really does improve your strength. I have to do it on my fingertips because I've got a ****ed right wrist but that might be a good thing to incorporate.

    Anyone else?

I'm going to try that or at least build up to be able to do that today thanks. I know this is simple, but I just recommend sprinting to anybody who doesn't already do it. It is a great way of conditioning while still keeping and building muscle

The “bear complex”; it will help to develop strength, power and endurance. It pretty much works everything and forces your different muscle groups to work as a unit.

This exercise combines five movements into one: 1) the power clean; 2) front squat; 3) push press (from front of shoulders); 4) back squat; 5) push press (from back of shoulders). Rinse and repeat!

You must have only just mastered this one if you're still using both arms.

One handed planches exist, I think... ****, one fingered handstands exist, so I suppose. One armed pull ups with just the little finger can be done apparently.

  6. Dead lift. Very good for developing strength and stability.

Burpees are what I'd choose for an overall exercise. Complicated ones, with a push up, squat thrust and a star jump. I don't think there's a better exercise? Minute on, minute off, for five sets = super fit in two months.

I have been training for the last 2 months to do a planche pushup have gotten to the point where I can hold the planche tuck position for 20 seconds. This is an absolutely brutal exercise I hope one day I can acheive what you have done a crank out 1 decent planche.

I do everything in my workouts ... except these exercises here. I don't dig the olympic style lifts. (I do the push press a lot, but not the rest). Maybe someday I'll try to incorporate them.

Now, I am practicing staying up in a one handed hand stand with just a little lean against the wall. Almost found the balance point to where I can come off the wall and stay up. I would recommend SPRINTS and JUMPROPE to everybody! Also dig the handstand pushups, the pullups and dips. If I had to chose only one workout accesory on an island, it would be my heavy leather jumprope.

I've got to start doing these at home. I've started cardio but the treadmill bores me to death and I can't be arsed to run outside when it's cold, windy and wet, so I can't go on my punchbag either. Tabata squats and burpess could be the way to go.

Visited Jamaica last month and I brought my own jump rope with me. Everyone probably thought that was odd, but at least I got some exercise done in the midst of all that drinking.
