so i have heard Sweet Pea mention Ralph Dupas recently so i will try and check him out can anyone else recommend me some more obscure fighters that i should watch
I like pure boxer types. So I'll recommend some pure boxers for you. Don't know exactly what you have seen, but these are some to look out for if you haven't already seen them: Johnny Famechon (vs. Vicente Saldivar, Fighting Harada and Jose Legra) Howard Winstone (vs. Vicente Saldivar - in particular the second fight -and Mitsonuri Seki) Billy Graham (vs. Kid Gavilan III, Joey Giardello II and Cleo Shans) Ernesto Marcel (vs. Antonio Gomez and Kuniaki Shibata in particular - you've probably already seen the Arguello and Duran fights) Joey Archer (vs. Emile Griffith I & II, Holly Mims and Farid Salim)
cheers i like pure boxers too i migth be getting the Winstone-Saldivar trilogy from a freind. ill have a look for the rest of the guys
Yeah you will be intrigued by Pancho Villa for sure mate. By the way i can reccommend you a fight that i do most people on here but it doesn't seem anyone who hasn't already seen it takes the advice. Barney Ross vs Jimmy McLarnin 3.
yeh Teeto i have seen some of Villa he looks pretty decent from what i have seen (not alot though) I have Ross vs McLarnin 3 its a great fight and Briscoe is a fighter i like also Bladerunner im looking for more unheralded fighters
On Mantequilla's recommendation, I've been watching some of Tony Sibson, outwith the Hagler fight which was the only fight I had seen with Sibson. He was actually a damn good middleweight. Really made me appreciate just how special Hagler was.
Jimmy Carter vs Araujo. A very underrated fight where the Champion(Carter) scored a big UPSET over the hot challenger(araujo). Rare indeed.
Here's some obscure fighters who are worth checking out: Dwight Davison, Frank Fletcher,Jerry"The Bull" Martin, James Scott, Zach Padilla, Carlos "Bollilo" Gonzalez, Jorge Paez, Clyde Grey, Randy Shields.
Have you seen Tyrone Everett? Particularly against Alfredo Escalera? Brilliant fighter. Others I liked that come to mind: Jimmy Paul, Harry Arroyo, Bernardo Pinango, check out Reyes Cruz against Camacho (he arguably beat Camacho), Eijiro Murata (went tooth and nail with Pintor and Chandler), Mike "The Bounty" Hunter (vs James Thunder).
