Was just having a look at the undercard for tonight's Sky show. Noticed that Anthony Fowler was fighting another Hungarian Eurobum so clicked on Boxrec to check out his record:

    Laszlo Fazekas 31(18)-27-1

On face value I thought... well, at least he has a winning record and with 18 ko's might have a bit of pop so perhaps not the worst. That is until I dug a bit deeper into the blatant padding out on this guys record.

    Fights in Hungary: 33
    Record: 31-1-1

    Flights outside Hungary: 27
Record: 1-0-26* Edit: Originally miscounted, seems he beat Zak Collins in Hull back in 2014 on points

A large majority of these 'home' fights were taking in gyms against people with appallingly abysmal records. This got me thinking that there must be a subculture of literal bums in place to build up the record of other journeymen. People basically going round gyms to take a beat down (18 ko's!) off journeymen "prospects" to fatten up their records. Which in turn would legitamise them showing up overseas to pad out the record of another fighter a little further up the food chain.

Just shows the level these guys are really at and can be sure Fowler will be giving it large acting like he has just made a major step up after his inevitable victory tonight. But really this fight should be no where near being on TV as there is absolutely no element of competitiveness to it. If fighters need to take slow step up fights against garbage opponents then fine no problem, but please keep them off prime time TV until they are ready to deliver decent fights. It may be bringing them 'exposure' but is also irritates the hell out of people continually watching these ridiculous mismatches.

That's actually very very interesting, I'm glad you did a breakdown of the record as it clearly paints a different picture of things!

10 of his fights have the red question mark next to them on boxrec, so we cant be sure they actually happened. There is also about 200 other boxers in Britain the he could possibly fight, they must really pay these foreign fighters peanuts.

Nice breakdown there. Shows how pathetic some of these fights really are. Lining up these truly awful fighters with what are supposed to be our best up and coming prospects. They ain't gonna learn fighting these sort of guys.

I can't see fowler doing much to be honest, think he'll struggle when eventually stepping to British title level

Fowler’s cost me in my accumulator, thought he’d put that lad away before final bell.

I do wonder if Fowler has the potential to be another Bradley Saunders

I mean it's laughable the matchmaking hearns doing with these I mean they had good amateur careers but the trash they have fought is shocking his making them look great but they are not learning a thing look at Joyce he fought a decent domestic fighter who also had a good amateur career and he gave Joyce abit of a tough fight he was never gonna lose but he had things to think about he didn't look great but that's a great learning fight compared to Fowler pathetic opponents so far

Look at the bum Kelly fought, he was 10x worse, why no criticism of him.

Fowler will punch holes in that Kelly kid
